Having been the one with the honor to present the flag at the funeral, honor guard and also pulling casualty assistance duty, I will tell you I have had to hold back the tears on many occasions. May God bless you all and your families.

The priviledge of living free is protected by those willing to die for it...I'm not sure enough of us realize this. We are too often medicated to the point of complacency until one day we wake up broke, poor, naked, staring up from a pit wondering what the hell happened. A travesty to serve under the auspice of freedom when the process of decay continues at the highest levels. Part of our battle ground should be even here on the home front...

We did a few at sea burials. The hardest thing I ever did was hand the flag to the mother afterwards.

I was searching for some pictures for a briefing I am doing and I came across this one. I just wanted to share this and ask that you take a moment to think about our fellow Americans you have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and the families they left behind.

Touching photo indeed. Unfortunatly i have been on both sides or this flag.
Neither were easier to accept or endure.
