I'm looking for the old post but can't find it...anyways...I can't afford a full aftermarket system right now..presently running shorty tips...thinking to cut open the stock cans, remove everything from inside, shorten them abit & put it back together. I know the original post reused some of the stuff inside but I'm thinking take it all out & put the end cap back on totally gutted.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link!

I'm thinking to hollow out the entire insides though... so it will be empty, shorten so it will look better & re-seal.

Has anyone done this?

when i did the mod i cut the end cap, bored out 9 1/2 inch holes in the end cap, shortened the can to 9.5 inches, and removed the internal barrier chamber. dropped a lot of weight doing so and the sound was remarkable. i had to send 3 threaded rods through the entire muffler to secure the end cap. finally, i used a little RVT bond to seal any seams.
