I'm looking for a bit of info on a stock busa engine. I'm building a sports racer with a busa powerplant, and just had a few questions for the "experts" on this site:

- are the engine fuel accessories something that can be used off the bike (fuel pump, pressure regulator, filter)
- what is the stock bore of the clutch master cylinder?
- any idea of what the surface area is of the stock radiator?
- I'm looking for a intake shroud, and really like the look of the ones on the Radical sports racers...might be a long shot, but does anyone know of where I can source this (other than England...)
- I've heard of an ECU feature where it cuts power in lower 2 gears...and there is a bypass for this, can someone give me a lead on this?

Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll have more questions later on! Below is a CAD concept of the car, design is near complete, construction is planned to be finished before the beginning of 2011 racing season

Ive worked on sand cars so here is my take:

Anser is yes...and many do..it depends if the motor will be a stocker or reworked...You could use the stocker pump and fab a bracket, but why not do an aftermarket setup??? Just observation

The clutch MC might be 16mm...but this is just a gestimate since i compared it to a brembo i have which is 19mm

As far as radiator goes..surface area is about 11x8 (would have to measure, rated at about at about 28.1 KW)..again why not use an aftermarket like a PWR or a griffin with larger surface areas since you have space in the car...

I think the 1 and 2nd gear feature your talking bout is the suzuki in the new ECu's -DMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector), you can select ande select but by default it is on A mode which is full power available....dont know of any other feature incorporated in it...

Hope this helps....

Check out Boostbysmith.com, site sponsor. He sells the ECU Editor, allows you to do alot with the ecu.

The reason I want to use stock components is because I will have a donor bike that I'm using which has all the stock stuff on it already, and I want to begin by keeping this a simple transfer to the car. I will initially be using a stock ECU, (mostly) stock wiring harness, etc. The only major thing that I plan on changing initially would be the obvious: oil pan and exhaust

I plan on using a larger radiator, just wanted to make sure that I have at least the same surface area as stock...it's going to be a bottom mounted rad right behind the driver, below the exhaust with 2 5" spal fans blowing up towards the pipes.

Is this what you are talking about?

you can definately transplant and use the stock components...just a fab for the fuel components..thats it...a couple of bracket depending on your mounting design...

Is this an FSAE project?

here's some history from some of the US events you may find of interest:
SAE Collegiate Design Competitions: Year in Review

You could probably get in touch with some of the teams to discuss different american sources for parts and assemblies.

I've actually just graduated from University of Ontario IT. I've been on their SAE team for the past 4 years, project leader and suspension/chassis head for the past 2 years...that is what gave me the skills to design this! Also, SAE rules restrict engine displacement to 610cc, which would eliminate the hayabusa from that competition

 very nice project
Alot of the non traditional busa engine mids come from the UK. The only intake shroud I know of can be sourced from Active technologies in the UK (Throttle Bodies | Throttle Body Assembly | AT Power). I would have to dig around in some of my notes for more info of different sources for things but they're all British companies.

For your project you may want to consider clutch upgrades and a better output shaft. Good Luck!
