Steering lock inop

My key turns fine to on and off but will not go to lock......any idea what the problem might be? It was like this when I bought it last summer

I think it will only lock to one side. Try to wiggle the bars while you turn the lock. The lock pin may be bent a little making it hard to align with the hole.

2006, Im wondering if when it was lowered before something got out of wack. I had it raised up by a shop but didnt try the lock all winter because it was in my garage. I have the bars all the way left and yes I am pushing down on the key but it feels like it is hitting something.
