stator question?

I'll be to the point. I bought a wrecked 01 Busa not running. Noticed that the stator cover was used and was marked 04 Busa. Do the 01 and 04 stators interchange because it sounds like its trying to fire at the wrong time when cranking and its soaking the spark plugs. Any help would be appreicated.

Pull the cover and check the rotor. The stator and crank sensors are the same, but the 99-01 rotors are different from the 02+ rotors. The 02+ rotors are a 24-2 rotor and the 99-01 are a 8-1 rotor. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on the #'s.

How can I tell the diff between the 24-2 and the 8-1? Because i spoke to the guy i got it from this a.m. and he thought it all came an 04. Thanks again in advance for the help.

Pull the cover(watch your fingers, it'll bite) and count the teeth. Its pretty obvious. The newer,02+ has 20+ approx 3/8in teeth on it, while the older 99-01 have 8 long teeth.
