staring at combusion chamber's

emptys

for christmas, i'm been tearing down a 'busa engine,
me, and my daughter. its the first engine she's
ever seen torn down.

when we pulled the head, the took a look at the combustion
chambers. it seemed that the chamber closest to the cam chain
was the cleanest, and the one furthest away seem to have the
most soot -- in fact it seemed a bit on the oily side -- had the
most "sheen" to it, and each next chamber got cleaner till the
one closest to the cam-chain

is this typical? is the ONLY drain-down through the cam side?

this is from a 2005 salvage bike we (daugher and i) are rebuilding.
the engine only has some 1200 miles on it, and besides the
cracked case and clutch damage, it seems in pretty good
shape. hrm... anybody have an OEM clutch they wanna get
sell?
