i have used in the past, standard 17/40, then 18/40, 17/43 and now 18/38.
i found that the standard 17/40 and 18/40 gave me my best mpg for every day riding. i get about 45mpg give or take. what do other think and what have other found there bike do.

I just recently went from stock 17/40 ... to +3 rear 17/43 .
Which you show as one you have tried ... I feel I lost about 5-7 mpg .
In my opinion the power delivery makes it VERY worth it .
I think if I were to go on alot of VERY LONG trips I would seriously consider running closer to stock gearing .
