Speedo freaking out...

Occasionally, when I really get on the beast, the speedo will peg and stay up there. After a minute or two it'll come back to what speed I'm actually going... but it's annoying as heck.

Any ideas on what could be causing this intermittant problem?

Sounds like it might be a defective speed sensor. If Johnnycheese doesn't chime in here with an answer just PM him. He's the resident pro busa wrench here. He should be able to tell ya exactly what it is.

It could also be that the speedo sensor nut has come loose.

Ok here's what you do..
1st remove your sprocket cover and make sure the speed sensor nut is secure and had not worn or come loose.

2nd If the speed sensor nut is secure check to make sure your speed sensor cable is tight/secure (you should actually do this first--before checking the "nut")... While checking to see if it is tight make sure there are no stretched wires in it and that all the wires are in good condition... because they sometimes get pulled or stretched or frayed. ..

Typically its not the nut but the wiring and its easier to replace the wiring...the replacement cost for me was about $25...
