I work shifts, and some times I get as little as one hour of sleep in a 24 hr period. Most nights I get 4-5 hrs of sleep, sometimes 6 hrs. On the rare occasion I will slip in an 8 hr sleep, but that is very rare, once or twice every 3-4 months. 10 hrs once or twice a year. Any suguestions to help get more sleep?

How about you, do get the required 8 hrs of sleep nightly?

I'm not much better. If I get super tired I'll take a Tylenol PM. I always say I can sleep when I'm dead

I sleep about 5 hours a night. No alarm clock and the time I go to sleep doesn't matter. If I go to bed at 10 I wake up at 3 or if I got I bed at 12 I wake up at 5. 5 hours is all that my body will sleep in a 24 hour period but I always feel good.

Suffice it to say you CAN program your internal clock to get the required sleep but it takes a little bit of work to do...I can give you some tips and ideas but we need to make sure there isnt a bigger problem here first Bo

I'm not breathing right as Lycan said. My father suffers from sleep apnea, the test I beleive is a sleep over at a clinic it's kind of a pain in the ass but I think I'm going to do it. And also are you a hiper person, cause I am and that couls also be the case.

My work gets my sleep pretty screwed up. Working 16hr give or take a couple hours, 7 days a week for a few months at a time though, then its tough to get back to anything resembling normal. I sleep better during the daytime when im off.

I have insomnia a lot, just wide awake for no reason; can't seem to shut my mind down with all that's going on in life. When I do sleep, it's broken up...wake up every 2 hours, every 3...never seem to feel truly rested anymore. Every few weeks, I'll hit a stretch of 2-3 days where I pass out and don't move all night, so I think my body just does its best to keep up, and when I can't, I zonk out...

I've always had sleep issues; never seen a specialist about it. Perhaps I should

If I can get 5 straight hours of sleep I'm lucky. Like Vabusa my sleep patterns are broken up. Seems to be getting worse the older I get. One problem I had was a kidney stone I didn't know about. I was getting up at least 11 times a night to pee. Once the stone was removed it got better but I still wake many times during the night. I don't know what its like to wake up rested. I'm always tired but push through it best I can.

I need 8 hours to fell good the next day. It didn’t used to be that way; prior to my wreck I was good with 4. Now my body is so busted up that I need 8-9 hrs of lying still so my body can recoup and be ready for the next day. Most work nights I only get 7-7.5hr which is okay but more is better. It takes me 10 mins after I wake up of moving and stretching before I can even make it out of bed. I turn the shower extra hot to help loosen me up too. I cant sleep through the night...I wake up stiff at least 3 times and need to change my position. I hope you can get more sleep.

i average 5.5-6 hours. it works man, not everyone requires 8 hours of sleep to be awake and productive. if your health is good and you feel good, it doesn't really matter. look into "sleep hygiene". i don't know how well that will work for you working rotating shifts, but it's worth a shot. helped me when i was having problems getting accustomed to different time zones, countries, etc.

I need 8 hrs sleep now a days. I used to work 12 hr shifts and be on call for 12 hrs after that and then work another 12 hrs then you got to go an rest for 12 hours. So it was 36 hr shift total with 12 those hrs on call on duty at the company in the middle. To pull your weight you were expected to be able to stay up an working the 36 hrs straight if it was needed. 12 day work week then 2 days off to rest.

I usually get 2 - 3 hours a day. I have been this way since highschool, I just don't require a lot of sleep UNLESS I am sick or I get out of my routine.. I get a lot of things done this way... I have a pill I can take that will get me 4 - 5 hours of absolute bliss. I take em almost every night when I have neck and back pain.

I work 12 hr shift most of the time. 5-5, am to pm or pm to am. Sometimes I feel like I am bounced around like a basketball. Work 3 12`s get a day or two off. Since we are short handed and vacation time is coming up, someone has to cover. I have passed up two nights to cover vacation. Just not into it. If I have to cover I will. Lord knows I could use the extra pay.

And yes I snore like a locomotive. You know it is bad when you wake up and your ears are ringing.

Lucky day if I get 4-6 hours and that is almost never in one stretch. Even with the help of modern chemistry will wake up every2-3 hours. Not uncommon to go 4-6 days on 1-2 sleep total.
