Does anyone know if the side mounted license plates are legal in Texas. I see lot's of Harley's and choppers done this way. Another question: Say it is legal in Texas but you pass through another state that doesn't allow them. Can you get cited?

good up here in nebraska, would like to know myself as I am moving to the san antonio area this fall.

One of the biggest problems that you will find is not having it illuminated... The other is being obstructed.

Big red, i've had mine side mounted (swingarm mount) for a little over a year. KNock on wood, but I haven't been cited yet.

Check the state code. Here in Florida, you cant cut or modify the plate at all. It also must be illuminated and visible from like 100 feet. Other than that, you're good to go..:)

It must be illuminated & inspection sticker near the back of the bike.

In Assachusetts, the biggest thing is that the Brake light needs to be in the center of the bike! (not off to the side with the license plate)

Went to the local DPS office about two years ago, and asked the same question. The answer was almost the same as MPH 200. Has to be lighted and visible from the rear of the bike.
