I'm going to be purchasing a Valentine 1 for multiple vehicle use (bike, 2 cars) and just wanted to see what kind of stuff folks are using to mount their V1's or any radar detector for that matter.

I have considered the stem type Techmounts (or similar) but I worried about turning the bars turning the V1 and making it less accurate (unlike how it's stationary under the windscreen). I also had concerns about exposure to the elements, I tend to get caught in rain fairly reguarly.

Please post pics and any comments, all info is welcome and useful.

Thanks.

Well a V1 is not waterproof but in the rain I'm not speeding that much so I tuck it away in the tankbag. I use a techmount stem stand for mounting and the way the handlebars turn is the way you're headed so there is no inaccuracy to it. I have heard of placing it inside a zip lock baggie but again, if its raining I'm not speeding that much to worry about it.

I have a laser jammer (Blinder M25) in the front of bike. That is always on. I have a dual mount from techmount that sits in the center hole. I have a passport x50 that sits on one of the mounts. The key thing you need both a laser jammer and a radar detector to be covered.

I like the escort Solo S2 for swapping between cars (cordless/powered by 2AA batteries)... is the V1 cordless, I will have to check...

But I like not having to plug into power, just suction cup it to the windshield... and go...

What, NO picture....

The only reason I didn't post a picture is because I can't access them from where I am located...

Got a V1 too, and I as well user the suction cups for the windscreen and velcro on the speedo cluster (also the V1 stays in the Vette most of the time).

No, it isn't cordless, but I plan on hardwiring it (which will take me all of five minutes). Cordless detectors don't have near the range of powered ones (generally).

Do you have any problem with lock-to-lock steering? I'd want it pretty far forward, under the windscreen if possible, I think a mount that long would present problems when steering.

I'm leaning more towards mounting it to the dash/windscreen at this point.

Where's the pics people!!

My install- Velcro'd the Parsons visual alert, and a thin film of Goop on the suction cups holding the detector. I also use this detector on my Blackbird, and velcro it to a tech mount. Use a strip of velcro on bottom of detector where it rests on intrument cluster for the Busa.

Not a V1, it's shows how it's mounted.  I also used the HARD system, which is well worth the money...

I wouldn't judge the effectivness of the detector by it's source of power, the Solo S2 is a good unit...

How is everyone hardwiring the V1 to the bike?

Is the Parson's visual avaliable for the V1 as well? Does it work in grabbing your attention?

(hope I didnt shank this tread with these questions.)

Thanks!

X50 is wired from the battery and I use the mono ear piece. When it rains throw it in the tank bag. Po-po cant use radar when its raining, it affects the reading. Never leave home without it.

Not to thread jack, but I like your tire gauge mount. That would really remind you to check pressures.

I have my Escort X50 mounted to the left side of the nose cowling with industrial strength velcro. It sits out in the open, unobstructed in it's view of the road ahead. I also have the H.A.R.D. (Helmet Assisted Radar Detection) system. The Heads up aleart (Wireless) in my helmet works like a dream. I have had this system for a number of years and as of yet (Knock on wood) have no radar tickets.

Could post some pictures but I think your familar with the mount set-up.
Jammers: had most of em, Bel, Escort, Blinder. Love the Blinder! (still on the bike)
Detectors: Escort Passport 8500 x50 on stem stand on bike. Just use a square of velcro on both the stand/detector, it'll never move from the mount!
How to hear the darn thing: I've got the H.A.R.D system as well as a Screamer! Love the screamer over the Hard set-up just cause it doesn't require batteries...
Finally my little bro uses a custom cover for his radar when it rains! Can't think of the brand name but it wasn't that much $ and works like a champ. I too agree that most police aren't running heavy enforcement when it rains.
