OK, I need to get the tranny undercut. I will be pulling the motor for the first time (I am a little intimidated). I will also be replacing the clutch basket, clutch and shift forks. What special tools will I need? Any advise for a first timer? Anyone got a good hookup as to where to get the parts and work done that I need. Ive got a few weeks before I start the project and could use all the advise I can get!

I made some sockets to remove the engine lock nuts... You're welcome to use them. This is the first time in 3 years that I'm NOT pulling my motor out! LOL

Like James said, mark everything. I used little cups and yogurt containers...

It's not as bad as it looks. I use zip lock bags with labels for everything. Just take your time and you'll get it done. I think the biggest help is to have someone there to help you lowering the engine out.

Chris, did I miss something? Are you having transmission issues, or just trying to avoid them? I've been having some trouble with the 1-2 shift under load, but not any slipping or jumping out of gear in second. You?

At the end of the season, I felt the telling 2nd gear skip. I had the bike pretty much sold but couldnt pull the trigger knowing something like that was wrong. I have the bike set up just how I like it now and still love it 30K miles later. I will just make it bulletproof now and enjoy it for a long time to come.
