Power Commander after 32bit upgrade question

I just finished upgrading my 2000 busa from a 16bit to a 32bit ECU/Rotor. The upgrade went smoothly and she runs well. I had the ECU edited by POWERHOUSE before I installed it.

Prior to the upgrade, I had a PCIII USB installed. I was told the this would no longer work because it was specifically for the 16bit ECU so I removed it. I was told that I would need a PCV for the 2002-2007 busa (32bit Gen 1) so I purchased one. Unfortunately, when I went to install it, I found that the connectors don't fit. :banghead:

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey there my neighbor to the north. Do you need the PCV? I did the conversion on my 2001 and was in the same boat as you. After talking to other I met on here they assured me that it was not needed once the ECU was dialed in. I gotta say they were right. The bike pulls much stronger than before. And no PCV. I haven't completely opened her up yet... But when I do, I can't wait.

The only way is going to be to hard wire it, this is the downfall of not swapping the all of the components.

I did not use the Power commander, I tuned it using ECU editor. That is the main reason I went to 32 bit, so I could reflash the computer with my laptop. I did not want to use a power commander, as I had too many problems with them in the past.

No, I already have the PCV... I had POWERHOUSE flash my ECU so it's about as dialed in as can be without getting it dyno tuned. But Frank at POWERHOUSE recommended keeping a Power Commander to fine tune the fuel settings. It does run well without one so far. When it was 16bit with the PC3 it would pull really hard. I haven't had a chance to test it much yet, but it seems to have as much pull now like you mentioned. Did you get it dyno tuned?

Hmmm.... Where can I get a schematic so that I would know how to hardwire it? Or at the very least so I could swap the connectors from my PC3 to the PCV, since I know the connectors of my PC3 fit...

As I mentioned above, I did have the ECU flashed... I wish I knew more about how to set up the fuel using the ECU editor. Then, I may just sell the PCV (still new in the box) and use the money to buy an ECU Editor. Do you know where I can get info so I can learn how to program the fuel settings using the ECU editor?

You do not have to hard wire the newer powercommander into the bike's harness. On any powercommander for a four-cylinder bike, there are four injector "inputs" and four injector "outputs". What you have to do is re-wire the newer pc; in other words, you take the plug setup off the old pc and graft it onto the new pc . . . then it will plug right in and function.

Frank, Since the wire color codes are different on PC3 vs the PCV, is there a schematic that would show which wire goes where when grafting plugs?

Dynojet does not readily give up this kind of info when it comes to custom applications. It is something that you can figure out by looking at the input and output plugs of the pc itself. The only schematics you will need would be the wiring schematics from the early and then later model.

That makes sense. Well, I guess I'll just hold off for now and see how well the bike runs without it. In the meantime, I may just see if I can draw up a schematic to do a swap... If I do, I'll be sure to post it.

Is the power commander even needed after ecu is flashed by power house. I live in ny and wanted on doing conversion over winter. My bike has a pc2 in it with a brocks map. Bike pulls super hard. So im trying to see if its worth it to do conversion or just keep pc the way it is. I got a bit of basic motor mods. Stacks, exhaust block off plates, yoshi full exhaust, k&n, air box mod, ngk plugs. Im into looks but I want to get into more motor work like nitrous and so on. My buddy is good with busas. And got it running right.

It's not necessary if you can want to do all of the fuel mapping in the ECU directly. You will need an ECU Editor and to do it right, a Dyno tuner that knows how to use the ECU Editor.
