Trying to add an amp and sub to a 2011 GT500 and can't find anything that will give me line level outputs from the radio. Seems like metra or scosche should have some OEM style harness to tap into the OEM connectors without having to hack up the wires?

System has Nav / Shaker 500 stereo. Any ideas?

i hate to say it but your vehicle is too new. I bet metra will be at least 3-6 months before they come out with anything. I have scanned all my contacts and i havent found anything. Sorry man. You might check with local stereo company but i think they will say the same thing. Just too new.

about the only thing you can do is get a "line output converter" and tap into your rear speakers for a line to some subs. then just wire up the amp and youre good to go. search for the converters at cruthfield.com

Exactly what I was going to recommend. Then you can install a remote gain control to the amp. Call crutchfield and ask for Troy. Tell him james wilson sent you. Black friday deals all this week. His number is 800-317-4707, ext 4034

Here is the amp I have and a box to fit your car.

Also, if keeping the oem system, I would recommend a processor. But be careful about what you buy, read the reviews and do your research. They are great for customizing a factory system and installing components to compliment the oem head unit.

Ford did not redesing the harnesses form 2010 to 11 so you can just get the same kit for the 10 model for the same options you have...

Yes I am keeping the stock Nav / Radio. Thanks for the advice: I guess it is not just me...no kits for the 2010 / 2011 Mustangs yet. That JL box is sweet, but not for what they want for it!

What specifically are you looking for?

I don't need the form fitted stuff since I basically don't haul anything in the trunk. Looking to add a single 12 in a box enclosure and a 300 - 400 watt amp.

Finding the stuff to put in is not the problem, getting a clean signal is my problem. I don't want to splice into the existing wiring, but for now that appears to be the only way.

Looks like I'll need a line level to RCA converter and tap into the existing speaker wires. Sounds like you have some serious contacts over at Crutchfield!

Google the model number for it, you may find one much cheaper.

Cool. I know Troy can hook you up with what you need. If you order from him and tell him I sent you, you should get a discount for being referred. Good luck, I love my new system I just installed. You might want to hit up Mojo too, he just installed an amp and sub and kept his oem head unit in his 2010 F150. He also has a remote gain control for his amp so he can adjust it from the drivers seat.

You said you have the shaker system, doesn't that automatically come with an 8 inch driver or something like that. And you want to put a single 12 inch sub and amp. Just use the line out off of the shaker system, why would you keep the shaker system if your going to put a stronger amp and speaker in it. Thats just my take on it

I dont want to speak for 2bros, but with the new model cars and trucks, it is harder to fit aftermarket head units in them. Mojo's radio is huge and takes up the entire center portion of the dash. Keeping the factory components intact looks much better. The aftermarket designs are incorporating new products to work with the newest vehicles on the market. I wouldnt think about replacing the head unit in my wifes beemer, too many things are connected to it besides just a cd/radio. A sound processor and amp/sub package would be the best fit for her vehicle.

Im not saying to change head units. I could be wrong so dont quote me but isnt the shaker system just a normal factory head unit with an attached sub to it. I was simply stating unhook the factory sub run your line out to rca converter off of that speaker, you can even use a t connector so if you want to unhook the aftermarket stuff and hook the factory back up. I had an 06 Honda Civic that i did this to. Workd well and had a good sound with my subs and amp.

That's not a bad idea!

It's so expensive cause it's jL! I have two jL 12" w6's and at the time they were almost $400 a piece, but it's almost impossible to blow them.

i would follow the idea of unhooking the stock sub. i didnt realize you had a stock one. Take your imputs off that. They are already reduce line voltage i believe. if you cut it just make sure you do it with like a foot piggy tail on it from the factory clip that way you can return it to stock when finished. Also if you scout around there are some very good amps/eq packages out there. That is what i suggest to clean up the sound. I suggest bridgeing at 70 as well. Any higher and you will pick up a lot of noise. The remote gaain is an excellent idea as well. Jlaudio stuff is ok but if you are looking for clean clean clean sound i wouldnt get jl. I would suggest alpine or mbquarts. Cappas are even better. All depends on what you want out of the system. I also would have the box sealed if you looking for sound qaulity. A port will produce lower base depending on what the port is tuned to, but it will also dirty the sound up a little. In the trunk you wont notice as much but you will some. By the way i wouldnt do business with crutchfield. They are a paion in the but for warranty issues and they are known for reconditioned equipment. You are way better off with your local high end stereo shop as cust service will probably be better and there is no substitution for face to face contact.
