Worlds Fastest Man on a Motorcycle Acquires Rights to Houston Mile Top Speed Competition

Hennessey Performance continues primary sponsorship of the Houston Mile top speed competition

(Houston, TX) “ June 17, 2013“ Bill Warner, aka Mr. 300, owner of the Wild Brothers Motorsports motorcycle land speed racing team, has acquired the rights to the Houston Half Mile Shootout. Warners new company, National Mile Racing (NMR), will introduce a number of improvements for the popular Aeros & Autos Half-Mile Shootout, in addition to introducing two new one-mile competitions at the current location.

The inaugural Houston Mile competition is scheduled for October 19 & 20, at Houstons Ellington Airport. On-line registration will open August 18, and is limited to the first 150 registrants for both automobiles and motorcycles.

Warner and NMR bring a racer’s perspective to racing event management devoted to providing speed enthusiasts and fans with unforgettable top speed racing events in a fun and safe environment. Warner is the first and only racer to break the 300 mph barrier on a motorcycle and is known within racing circles as Mr. 300.

I've been very fortunate on the track throughout my racing career, but the best part has been all the great people Ive met along the way. I want to show my appreciation to them with events utilizing their suggestions and ideas, as well as mine,†said Warner. “I'm confident the new Houston Mile will reflect this collective input with memorable events for competitors, sponsors and fans," added Warner.

Local high performance specialists, Hennessey Performance (HPE), will present both the new Houston Mile events. “Hennessey Performance is proud to continue its association with the Houston Mile by agreeing to a long term sponsorship with NMR. We are confident Bill Warner and NMR will turn the Houston Mile into a premier speed event for Texas,†said Dave Golder, GM of HPE.

Ellington Airport is located 15 miles south of Houston, off the I-45/Gulf Freeway exit. For Houston Mile event details and registration information, visit Houston Mile

I am going to try and get in when registration opens. This one is right in my back yard and that strip of concrete is the best surface I have ever run on.

Are the runs still going to be in the same direction or is all that all still in the planning stages?

We can sure do without any rain this time around. I am going to make a couple of stops at one or two local RV parks and get some pics and information for those coming from out of town. There's one place in particular that's 15 minutes south of Ellington that has big, open spots and wide driveways with no trees hanging over them. It is easy to pull a trailer/rig in there. It's also directly across from a good place to eat that has good food and good prices (Kelly's). There won't be any traffic to dodge coming in from the south on race day(s) either.
It will be ran in the same direction but obviously starting further back. Most everything else is going to be rearranged to make more since. Thanks,
Due to recent events, looks like Shannon and Jay from the Texas Mile will take over...

The team of The Texas Mile that brought Top Speed 1-Mile Competitions to The Lone Star State will bring 1-Mile Racing to Houston in the Spring of 2014. Hennessey Performance is the Title Sponsor.

"The Fastest Modern Day Cars and Motorcycles will converge on Ellington Field in Houston. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Houston Airport System (HAS) and the staff of Ellington Airport has extended to the motor sports community. Ellington Field is already home to jet fighter pilots, NASA astronauts, and heroes from the US Military and Coast Guard. Now it will be home to the fastest modern day 1-Mile top speed vehicles on earth," said Shannon Matus, CEO of The U.S. Mile.

Dave Golder of Hennessey Performance commented, "I am very impressed with the U.S. Mile's team, their dedication to the sport and how thorough they are. I know this is going to be huge. I can't wait and I know we have chosen the right people for launching Top Speed 1-Mile Competitions in Houston."

I think that it's great news for the sport here in Texas and gives everyone that wants to, a chance to run. Beeville sold out in a couple of hours Sunday, so there's plenty of demand. Houston certainly will be a blessing to my budget and the runway there is as pristine as it gets. Good news all around from my end.
