I would bet that the criminals know who is a cop and who is not before they kick the door in of a house.

Yeah, some newspaper's probably already published a map of that on the internet...

What I really dont understand is with the passing of these laws (that are meant to prevent crime apperantly),
they are litteraly going to change thousands and thousands of law abiding citizens in to criminals overnight.

We dont have a gun control problem. We have an ignorance problem.

what we have is folks that are pushing these kinds of things through while intentionally bypassing the public and normal process because they dont want it all reviewed and subjected to possible change. They admitted as much publicly. We can only hope that the public finally is enraged enough to demand that this stuff gets changed but it passed both houses today. Everyone with those guns will soon be a criminal. :banghead:

You do know with 3d printers, you can 'print' 30, 40, 50 round magazine, don't you? I'm not making this up.

Again, what do you have against a law abiding citizen owning a gun with a large capacity magazine? I'm not trying to change your 'feelings' on guns. I know you will never own one until something bad happens to you and maybe not even then. My question is why stop someone who has had something bad happen to them or want to prevent that from happening from owning one?

If your losing sleep at night or something tell us. Does someone on this thread frighten you? This is the third age according to Tolkien.

yea but the whole point is over time less and less hi cap magazines will be available. the same would result if we outlawed guns but the problem is its gonna take a LONG time for that to happen. many decades actually! this is just a band-aid to our ever increasing gun problem in this country.

I live in upstate New York about an hour west of Albany. Basically in the middle of no where, small cities, farm land. I love it here and wouldn't want to live anywheres else. I'm an avid hunter and outdoorsman and no many people like myself. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do if a police officer comes to my door demanding my "illegal firearms and magazines" but I do know their are far crazier people around here when it comes to their firearms and rights. The mayor of gloversville NY which is a small city i work in with quite a bit of crime for its size spoke out today saying " I will not send my police officers to your doors demanding your firearms and magazines, I won't do that to my officers, I won't put them in that kind of danger." To me that says he knows what's going to happen to his officers if they do that. And what's going to happen is not going to be good for anyone. I'm not sure how this going to play out but I fear it's going to get real ugly real quick

They probably drive their cop cars home and have them in the driveway.. Wonder why no one robs their house ???

thats the same old lame argument we have debated for years and could for the next 1000 years and the same argument could be made for guns.

but if steps are not taken to REDUCE the number of bullets a gun can hold or simple banning them all together we will never see a change in out countries gun probelms which are some of the worst in the history of the world!

have you ever used your gun in self defense? do you know anyone who has ever used their gun in self defense other then what you have read on the internet? I doubt you do!

I work with over 500 cops on a daily basis and NONE of them have ever used their gun outside of work. never once in 17 years and a lot of them live in the city which sees the highest crime rate in all of new england.

and not to mention I have only only seen on a handful of occassions any criminal having anymore then the standard magazine capacity so criminals with 30 round magazines may be popular in the movies:whistle: but in the REAL world its utter BS cause they are simply too hard to carry around and would be seen easily be LE.

"No one hunts with an assault rifle," Cuomo said. "No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer. End the madness."

who said anything about hunting!!!! AHHHHHH this has NOTHING to do with HUNTING!!! these kinds of statements show an absolute dissregard for the 2nd amendment.

Just wait until the inevitable constitutional challenge happens, and we'll see what the results of that are. Playing chicken little and operating like it's said and done can wait till after that, in my humble opinion. ;)

imagine that, a knee jerk reaction gone wrong....

so if they do exempt cops, does that include their personal firearms?
if not, they have to turn in their guns and mags?
if so, what about when they retire? then they have to turn them in?

what about military? when I'm there I can be trusted with guns, but now that I'm not I can't have more than 7 or 10 rounds??? WTF???!!
(assuming this goes through)

holy crap, I LOVE that guy!!! out side of Ron Paul, I don't think I've ever heard a Politician be that clearly against gun control. Normally even the ones not exactly supporting gun control, are very broad about statements and answers, and keep things general. This guy was clear and to the point. The idiot on the other side, toward the end, that is trying to pass these laws even tries to say he believes in the second amendments and supports it (but it only applies to muskets.....). That is the typical political double talk I'm used to.
