well if I can work out the employment issue, and the getting there (hard part) then I have a good year to figure if I like it or not. Cant drive back in the winter with only a 2wd pickup!! But I think your right I am gonna go for it the best I can, I love isolation, and out door sports, hunting and fishing have always been a part of my life so I think I will like it.
If you like fishing then you'll love Alaska.  5 different species of salmon run throughout the summer and the trout fishing is fantastic.  Oh yeah, grayling, pike, steelhead and halibut heaven too.

They go to Valdez quite often for the fishing; I've seen pics of halibut bigger than the person that reeled 'em in...

No doubt you're gonna have to upgrade to new gear. The "barndoor" Halibut are actually shot before they're hauled onto the boat. Can't have a 300+ pound fish flopping around on deck ya know.

i would give my ass for -30 temps i hate 100-115 temps here in CA even in winter it mabe goes below 30F people here even ##### about that.
