So I've been a fan of the Hayabusa for a while and finally picked up one yesterday. Its a 2009 model with around 17k miles. The guy who I bought it from isn't the original owner and he couldn't really tell me anything about any mods that have been done. I can see that it has a full Yoshi R55 exhaust, but thats about it. Anything else I can look for thats easy to spot? How can I tell if its had a tune or not?

I'm sure risers have been discussed a million times here but I have specific question about using two of them together. Would it be possible to use a set of helibars with a spacer type riser in combination with each other without needing extended cables? What is the maximum height of the spacer type riser that I can use with helibars (again, without extended cables)?

Does anyone still make a good seat that positions the rider a little lower? I saw the Tobin seat mentioned in several threads, but having trouble finding it for sale anywhere.

Here's a couple of pics of the Busa, and my other bike (2014 Vmax).

Welcome, good looking bike, I always liked that color....

It's hard to tell if it has a tune or not unless there is a sticker on the ECU somewhere...

I have helibars but not an additional riser, I think the brake and clutch lines might be nearing their maximum extension limit with both but not 100% certain...

Thanks for the info man! Yeah, that's my other toy. I'm a bit of a V4 fanatic as well. I run a site called V4MuscleBike.com which is dedicated to them.

Appreciate the help!

I've always liked the VMax....I rode a gen 1 in '85 before they restricted them...it was scary...

I've never ridden a gen 2 but they look good.

You can use a max of .75" spacer And Heli-bars together.
If you use a 1" spacer the lines will be too short and the bars will hit the inner windsheild mid-turn.

Perfect. Thanks guys! In that case I'll go with the 3/4" riser & Helibars.

Any suggestions on a good 3/4" riser? I see Genmar makes one. Not sure if there's any others. Just spent most of my money on the bike itself so I'm on a pretty tight budget for a while. Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard.

Also, has anyone tried the eBay Helibar knock offs?

Genmar makes quality parts, and .75" risers are not easy to find, as most are 1"-1.25"

Thanks! Some people hate busas with luggage, but after buying a concours14, I fell in love with the ability to leave all my gear secured on the bike and purchased the rack system to run this top case and side cases if I need to.
What’s not to like about a 1/4 mile monster that can also haul your stuff? A two wheeled multitool. :D

Watch when you lock steering right or left, contact/ cables, operating clutch and especially the front brake. The big girl likes the floor.
You can remove the seat cover and remove padding to get lower on the seat.

Thanks! Speaking of the big girl liking the floor, I noticed the kickstand doesn’t swing very far forward on this thing. I’m going to remove it and grind out the notch a bit this weekend.

That’s a mod that can be done, I’ve never had a problem and had a Gen I lowered 2” that basically sat straight up. Always park in gear and pay attention to how you park.
