No problem.. I would hate for you to get information incorrectly and screw up the device your trying to power. Electronics are like Nitrous, not very forgiving with mistakes. :beerchug:

And I've done my share of blowing up too...
 
what exactly are you looking to power because you also have to look at the size of the fuse thats inside of the adapter just because its a 5v adapter doesnt mean that its the right amperage because some adapters are REALLY low amperage

USB devices use 5 volts.
A car cellphone charger will have a voltage regulator in it. Take one apart and hard wire the electronics to your application.

Griffin makes a very small cig to USB adapter that is rated at 1 amp. It is called powerjolt dual. $5.00 on eBay. I ordered 2 about 2 hours ago.
They are tiny and you should be able to easily break it down.
 
He said it only require a 1amp fuse, so a standard Usb adapter will work great!
