NEED HELP!

My Dad's 2006 LE Busa has always had a real mild noise at low rpm's that sounded similar to ball bearings bouncing around in the motor. His friend also has a 2006 LE Busa and his made the same sound so we didn't think much of it. Well, today the rattling got louder and is now making the rattling noise at lower rpm's when there is no load on the motor (slow cruising).

The noise is similar to what a diesel in a p/u truck makes at idle. There is no loss of performance, but there is minor vibration at 2500 rpm that wasn't there before in the bars. It feels/sounds like it is coming from the lower cases of the motor (almost like the clutch area). Both bikes have been broken in easy and have not been ridden aggresively yet neither of them were lugged around either.

Your thoughts please?

Well there is your problem!

She is pissed that you are constantly getting passed by other vehicles!!

Busas are loud machines, I think this may be normal.

Did you check the fluids? Have you done any mods?

No mods to the motor. Everything seems to work just fine and all fluids are fresh and at the correct level. Sure seems a little loud though. The noises can be heard even w/earplugs and my helmet on, are you sure this might be a normal Busa noise?

I have an LE with over 9,000 miles and since 3,500 miles have used Amsoil full synth. I've NEVER heard a wrong sound out of her yet.

Stock piped busa's sound like steroidal sewing machines. Change to synth oil and mod the stock cans.

Don't worry about it. I have an '05 that makes the same noise. It is quit common, it is probably the clutch basket making the noise...but I never checked mine.

Yes it is normal... But if you have doubts, you could consult with a suzuki specialist experienced with Hayabusas... Pretty much any of the faithful long-term Hayabusa.org servicemen and women are qualified to share their expertise. Mine sounded just like that. Especially when lugging the engine around at low speeds. This is because the engine harmonics penetrated so much due to the silent cans. I went with a straight through custom set-up and removed the stamped x-member in the header. Now you only hear a racing bike all the time.

Just for giggles, check you chain tension and make sure it isn't loose...

For piece of mind check with dealer, have them listen and document. At least then you should be covered...

this crossed my mind also Shawn. Chain hitting the plastic guide on top of swingarm.

The buzzing makes me think otherwise.

Yeah - but I was also thinking of the chain bouncing around the front sprocket (not fully seating in the teeth or worn teeth) since he said sounds like it is coming from around the clutch... I just try to rule out the dumb stuff...

nothing dumb about it Shawn.

Think about it? Will a dealer do any different? I doubt it myself. Oh! Forgot. $75.00 per hour to guess like us.

my 2005 Brusa has 14,000 miles and every time I don't use AMSOIL 10w40 synth the motor starts making slight knocking sounds.

So I just stick with AMSOIL 10w40 synth

True that the Busa is a noisy machine, and my 05LE has had noices come and go--even during a ride. But for peace of mind, why not have the dealer look at it under a warranty claim? Oh, yeah, GSXRme, that's a sweet lookin' '06LE ... I assume you repainted her (just goes to show that Suzuki should have made it a solid, pearl white).

Thank you... Its a 05 Black/Red Hayabusa.

Sadly no camera I can find will show the Blue pearl within the paint when the sun hits it.

Notice the frame is not black.

Here's the deal. I recently heard something similar on my '02 with 6800 miles. Diesal truck is exactly how I described it to people. I changed my oil to syn blend. Most of the noise went away. Now I never had any loss in hp or responsivness. Turns out what I thought was engine noise was my chain. I lube it often but I guess it wasn't enough. I lubed the crap out of it 2 days in a row with Maxima chain wax. THe whirring noise is gone.
