My accident

Well... I finally went down on the street for the first time ever... fortunately I am OK! Unfortunately it wasn't just a drop in the garage... I made a right turn on a dark street and my tire was cold, the road was bumpy, and my wrist was happy
sad.gif
. Thank God nothing happened to me (it was quite theatrical, really) except for a couple of scratches on my knees (the bike got out from under me my as it rotated when the tail spun, my feet and knees hit the ground, I elbowed the ground (i didnt have gloves, but i did have a leather jacket), flew up in the air, and landed on my feet
wow.gif
) The helmet never touched the ground, the jacket looks perfect, and my jeans got a little dirty... that's it for me... but I turned around to see the bike doing like a 360-540 on the asphalt making that horrible, horrible noise of fairing grinding
sad.gif
. I ran over to it and picked it up (it seemed surprisingly light...guess i had the adrenaline pumping...) and rode it home. (By the way... the bike didnt "shut down" when it landed sideways... I had heard that they had a cut-off tilt sensor or something... but the bike stalled when I was already next to it about to pick it up).
Anyways, I'm fine... just really heart-broken because my baby got hurt. It's really not nearly as bad as it could have been, but it still hurts
sad.gif
. I just went back to the accident scene and found my mirror and the end of the front brake lever. I was lucky that the only fairing to get hurt was the right side (tank is fine, nose is fine and tail is fine). My right Yoshi carbon fibre bolt-on got a little scratch but I dont think it's too bad... gives it some character
wink.gif
The most damage the bike got was to the right fairing, but it still isn't THAT bad... I'll have to read up on how to fix it (since there's no holes on it... just scratches... lots of em...)
Guys, please be REALLY careful with cold tires... the bike got away from me REALLY REALLY quick! And I should have been more careful because the past few days (since we got a cold front) I'd been feeling the tail sliding all over the place, but didn't think much about it because I could control it...
Anyways... I'll try to get some pics of the bike and my "injuries" if that's what you wanna call them... (My knees looked a lot worse from skateboarding or rollerblading when I was a little kid... The scratches I got are really kind of pathetic... thank God...)

So... Here's what got damaged/broken:
- Right Mirror
- Right/Front Brake Lever (It's one of those carbon-look-a-like ones... I'll probably just put the old stock ones back on)
- Right Throttlemeister (I might just leave it... it got scratched, but... whatever)
- Right Fairing (the piece where the Hayabusa kanji is... there's no holes on it, so I might be able to fix it if I can find that tutorial...)
- Right Yoshimura RS3 Carbon Fiber bolt-on (Might just leave it... gives it... character)

Sorry you went down
sad.gif
Cold tires kind of sneak up on you...I've felt mine break loose and remind myself to take it easy...it just happens so fast...

I'm glad you're okay though...I wish I had some of those smaller parts lying around, but I don't...as for the Throttlemeister end - can you smooth it out with a grinder? Sort of buff the scratches out? If it wasn't a painted piece, you may be able to 'hide' what happened...

Sorry...

That sucks! Glad to hear you walked away unhurt at least.

If it's just one panel you can probably get it retouched at a body shop for fairly cheap. It ran me around $100 per piece when I had to take my plastics in.

As far as the Throttlemeister goes, buff out the scratches, then go get some black spray paint and give them both a few coats. It will look a lot better with your bike than the silver will.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago on my gixxer: the tires and street were too cold, and i was a little to liberal with the throttle. Ended up high siding (pretty pathetic off a left hand turn at an intersection) and landing on my head and shoulder

Damage: mild concussion (helmet did its job)
separated right shoulder
mild whiplash
really, really bruised ego

The bike received alot of the same kinda damage, but the fairing and engine cover were not bad at all due to the frame sliders. The front cowl cage got bent up, and i couldn't bend it back to look "perfect" so i got another one.

I feel you pain, though. Glad to hear to you're otherwise okay.

Thanks guys for all the support. I especially wanna give a shout out to "Vic_E55_2001" for volunteering to send me a mirror free of charge!
BanditKing - wow, that really sucks

. You actually got hurt (damn high-sides)... I don't know how I did it, but I just scraped my knees a tiny little bit and ended up on my feet before the crash was over...
Anyways... I'm still not sure about the fairing... I might be able to fix it, but I'm not sure...
Again, thanks a lot for all the concern
