Heads up everyone. Dad of Three (Robert), DO3's girlfriend and Diesel (Jimmy - who rode up with me from Tampa) all went down earlier today. Those of us towards the front were moving at a good clip and from what I gathered Robert and his GF riding two-up went into a left turn and got too close to the center line where they hit a small line of gravel and maybe the line itself...I believe they low-sided and went wide along the guard rail and ended up in the road. Well Jimmy, not far behind, came around the corner where Robert & his GF were sliding to a stop and Jimmy had no where to go and ran into them possibly having run over HER!

Robert is fine, shooken up I imagine, Jimmy primarily has a hurt right hip (fractured, broke or strained) and Robert's GF had some internal injuries/swelling...she got the worst of it. Jimmy and R's GF were airlifted out by helicopter to UT Medical Center in Knoxville. I'm waiting for Jimmy to call me from the hospital to let me know what's going on, when he can get out, etc...damn HIPPA laws.

Lots of disussion and re-organization of Group Rides will be coming from this one, as it should. I'll keep my opinions to myself for now. I may be staying up here longer than I intended depending on when Jimmy is able to travel back.

Say a prayer for their speedy recoveries.

Man, that is really sad to hear

Please keep us up to date on their condition.

Wishing them a speedy recovery!

UPDATE:  Just spoke w/ Jimmy.  He has a broken pelvis in the ball joint area where the femur attaches to the right hip.  He had a quick surgery to stabilize everything until surgery on Mon./Tue.  I'll be visiting him tomorrow.  His wife and family will be flying in as soon as they can.

Robert and his GF, Kim I believe, hit the guard rail and shot right off back into the road right in front of him and he hit them throwing over the front.

He also told me as he was being taken out of the ambulance to the helicopter while strapped to the stretcher/gerny the cop handed him a ticket for reckless and speeding!

Guess I'll be making that 10 hour drive back to FL alone.

Oh crap!! I was hoping not to hear any stories like this, this year. Prayers sent....

As the cop wasn't there when it happened, he can only be using skid marks and scrape marks to make any kind of judgement. Should be easy to beat, but a royal pain since he lives in Florida...

Those cops are pretty ruthless...

Actually, while at the scene I was informed somebody in the group had gone wide and off the road earlier this morning. He was alright...just some soreness and bruises most likely.

We're gonna have some pre-ride discussions and splitting up into experience riding categories before any group rides tomorrow or I'm riding solo.

Good Idea. You guys take it easy out there. First big ride of the season for many.

So sorry to hear. I've got many prayers out for the group this weekend. We need them all to come home safe and in one piece.

That would be me. I was lucky enough to escape with just bruises. It was a sharp left curve followed by an even sharper right curve, and I didnt think I'd make the right curve and decided to go into the ditch on the right instead of flying over the cliff. Have a bruised right shoulder, but thats about it.

I am very thankfull to everyone who was there to escort me back. My bike was taken apart and fixed by the Busa Hospital in less than 30 minutes. The Org is trully a brotherhood unlike any other. I am blessed to be part of this brotherhood.

Havent met diesel yet, but I rode with Dadofthree and Namoi yesterday.

Prayers sent for them, I hope they recover soon.
