With the beginning of riding season starting, we are seeing a huge increase in the number of accidents. For those that are veteran riders, be safe, pay attention. For all the new riders, pay particular attention and develop good skills, life saving skills. Take a course, look ahead and dont get caught with no way out.
Today on the freeway, at 70mph in traffic, I saw a guy brushing his teeth, yes, wtf? I also saw a lady doing a crossword puzzle on her steering wheel. Maybe she was bored on her commute to the office, again, wtf? I also saw a guy reading book, and another reading a newspaper. I dont have time to do this crap while I am driving. Being in a company vehicle I cant really do anything about what I see because its like driving around with a bullseye on me. But remember, you are riding around with these kind of people around you. Pay attention and leave yourself plenty of room for braking, changing lanes, getting out of bad situations. Scan the road as far a 15 seconds ahead. Check your mirrors often for what is behind and beside you. Please be safe brothers and sisters!

Good advice, James!

My favorites are the women (sorry, not bashing) that drive down the road while applying makeup , especially mascara, while looking in the rear-view mirror! When I see that - I get outta the way quickly!

Speaking for reasonable women...I agree with you! I mean, if you don't have time to put on your makeup at home, set your alarm for 10 min earlier. If you need more than 10 min for makeup you have other issues. When I see that, I've been known to honk when I'm right next to them.

I also hate to see men shaving. Again, reset your alarm!

I commute about 45 miles each way daily. I ususally ride a bike unless it is raining (like today) or the temperature is below freezing. James has seen the cool part of my commute (the first and last six miles), but the rest seems like a battle zone on most days

You deninately need to be wathing out for them. They are not watching out for you. And some of them have the brain the size of a flea and think that whatever the situation, they have the right of way.

And they say bikes are dangerous...
People that don't ride dont' pay attention. Just like drivin a rig (used to drive) so I have come to understand and respect bikes and trucks by understanding the limitations and or nessacary things to look for.
cagers that only drive cagers.... oh well you understand
