Looking for a little insight

You sound like a very level headed young man. How many 18 year olds own their own business, let alone express a thought in writing. Go for it and listen to your own words and respect the bike and those around you. Let her rip when its safe to do so and enjoy the ride. Sorry about your brother. I know that is very hard to deal with. Ride safe. Oh oh and get a Gen II White yeah.

:welcome: to the .org Gen II all day long.. and since its not about speed get a white one they are the slowest.. then black.. the Blue ones are hands down the fastest so stay clear from those.. good luck and happy travel's

Read everything SixPack said again and pretend I said it

As far as gen1 vs Gen2, the gen2 is a better bike, but cost more. You won't know what your missing if you don't ride it and the gen1 won't leave you feeling like somethings missing. With the money saved buying a 1 vs a 2 you can mod the 1 to be better for your summers ride. Just my thoughts. Gonna need pics of whatever ya get

Having a ton of fun talking with you guys. Even those of you who think I'm out of my mind.

It's all most 100% decided, I think I'll be going to pick up my Busa next week. This will be my new love affair: 2006 Ltd Hayabusa

Gen 2 is more refined, Gen 1 is more raw...if you're like most of these old folks on here and want their race bikes slightly watered down with more manners, then go with the Gen 2, the Gen 1s are just as much fun, but they aren't quite as sorted out from the factory, so they leave you feeling a bit more on the edge, in my opinion. That said, I still stand by saying that the only "true" hayabusas are the 99 and 2000 models. :moon:

Since you have ridden dirtbikes and 4 wheelers during younger years you have learned to make split second decisions while maintaining a level head.
Biggest key that gets most riders, BEAWARE of your surroundings and treat everyone else on the road around you like they are a blind idiot.
Thats about all I have to say, the difference between your 750 and a Busa besides the weight is the Busa keeps pulling like a freight train past 110 MPH to where your 750 is
huffing and puffing. Grip It And Rip It!

I typically just wear jeans and tennis shoes if I'm not going for an extended ride.

Notice where the shoes end up.

You want to to join the old man big boy club, then it's your actions that count, not how convincing your arguments are.

Man up and get some protection for your legs and over the ankle boots, and you have my approval.

cheers

196hp? That must be crank hp, because no way that's at the wheel.
$7800 is alot for that bike. You can get a gen2 for that, or less.
Buy what you like, but it would be adviseable to look around some more.
The only thing different about the limited edition is color too.:beerchug:

Point taken. I guess to correct myself I wear regular leather boots about half as often as tennis shoes, I just had not particularly concerned myself with foot protection. Looks like that was a rather dumb thing to do. Learnin' all ready.. and they said I couldn't be trained. :sigh:

I thought 196 sounded a bit bogus as well. I got him down to 6900, but @ an $8,000 budget and all of the recommendations thus far, I think I might hold out for a Gen II. I do really like the LTD paint, but I'm seriously considering a custom paint job for my bike, as I have about ten years custom paint experience. (Maybe longer, if you consider wandering around the shop or job site with my father at 4 years old "experience".)

FYI - Gen II's are rated by the factory at 194.4hp at the crank, and tend to put down mid 170's at the tire in stock form.

Short of serious internal engine work, nitrous, etc, 196 is not a realistic number on a Gen I. Actually, it's also not realistic on a Gen II with only the mods mentioned in that ad and a safe tune. Somebody making claims like that... I wouldn't touch that bike. Buy what you want, but your price range is in Gen II territory.

Well, since I am an owner of a 2006 LE I am very biased! Regardless of the flavor (Gen 1 or Gen 2) you will love the bike. Comfortable and powerful, they are great bikes.

Good luck.

A good dyno tune with that exhaust should put that bike in the low 170s(wheel hp).
So 196hp crank hp wouldn't be unrealistic...on a healthy dyno.
I agree though that it's likely what the seller thought a cool sounding hp number was for the ad.:beerchug:

I'm not exactly sure why I quoted you up there...
