Cyclist injured in Mitchell St. crash has died
By Jesse Garza of the Journal Sentinel

Updated: May. 19, 2009 7:15 p.m.

A motorcyclist injured in a crash on Milwaukee's south side has died, police said.

According to 6th District police Lt. Aimee Obregon, the crash was reported at 4:03 p.m. at the intersection of S. 17th and W. Mitchell streets.

According to Obregon, the cyclist, a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, was westbound on Mitchell and traffic in the eastbound lane was backed up. A motorist in the east bound lane made way for a northbound van to get through on 17th St. but the van was struck by the motorcycle as the bike continued west.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead a short time later, Obregon said.

The crash remains under investigation

Rest in Peace Rider.
Be aware of traffic conditions and your surroundings at all times.
Sad very sad.

RIP, brother! It's like were in a constant automotive militarized zone...need to do motorcycle boot camp, continuing education, ATGATT, always on the look out expecting the unexpected, etc. Since participating in this site more frequently, my riding habits have changed dramatically. Much more conservative now.
