Every once in awhile the general pulse of the site get's out of whack, rumors get going and the rumors can be worse than the truth.

It never ceases to amaze me that it doesn't matter how many times we try to really do the right thing someone gets upset. We have so many people on the forum these days that there are differing opinions and someone is going to be offended. We do our best to sort out the real intentions of people, if someone post up a topic or makes a comment that just accidentally came out wrong then so be it, but if someone is working to provoke a response we will sometimes step in and maybe send a pm, maybe edit the post a little or maybe just delete the entire post if it doesnt seem to be a heavily followed thread and it would just make the problem go away..

We simply provide a place for people to get together and we try to do that without it costing a member a single penny, our goal has always been to have the site paid for by advertising. We wanted the site to be accessible by anyone, from a soldier serving in the desert to a single dad that is just getting by. The site is what we all make it, I am really tired of people expecting the mods and admins to not only provide the servers and software but they want the site to be just what they want. I asked this question the other day, what have you done for the org lately? People that keep saying the org isn't what it used to be, is that my fault? I don't think that I control the members, if the site isn't what you want then step up and make the changes.

Being a part of a group like the org means that you don't just sit around and complain all the time but you serve. If you don't like things the way they are then I challenge you to step it up and reach out to others, if you want new features then make suggestions.

I have never been a guy to just sit around and be a victim, if I want change I am usually the first person to step up and start taking action. Let me give you a good example, Eric, Dr E started the cookie thread because he wanted to reach out to others, he is serving the org with his idea and keeping the idea going.

For those that just sit back and armchair quarterback every move that is made I ask you each, are you taking more from the org and complaining about the problems or are you actually doing something about it. The more people we see on the site the more differing opinions we will have, having only typed messges and not being able to see faces or hear voices we often times read into post what we want to see.

I do take things personally on this site, when people make accusations that I deleted post or that I just want to hold the members down it sounds ridiculas. When I read that people think I read PM's or that I delete their post because I have nothing better to do then they just don't know me. We get complaints all the time, daily about one thread or the other, someone disagrees about a post or a picture or a comment. There is no way that we can email or PM everyone each time that we get a complaint or concern. There are by far more of you than there is of the mods and admins, throwing more people at the problem and having more mods isnt the answer either. What we really need is people to remember who we are, what we do, and look at the history of the site. The mods and admins do not randomly go through post and delete content, we don't target members and we just don't have the time to send messages and deal with all the problems at the same time.

We only ask that members think about what they post, if they want change they step up to the occasion and if you have a true concern that you would contact me before posting censorship all over the Internet.

I have in recent days removed a few accounts of some longstanding members from this site for going on the Internet and complaining about this site and then coming right back to enjoy the benifits of what we have to offer. You can't have it both ways, people that email or post up on other forums that they hate it here and that we are going downhill seem to be a cancer to the site and they need to be disconnected and cut away. It's interesting that people will broadcast that they are not going to come back to the Org but when their account is locked out they scream censorship and unfairness.

Just remember that we need people to do the right thing, I know I live each day striving to do the best I can, I can't please everyone but I think we do pretty good.

I simply need your help to not think the worst when you disagree with a decision. Usually when the truth comes to the surface most people understand and agree with our decision making process...

Enjoy the site.... and contribute back to the cause...

Cap, you are taking the internet way too seriously. You need to chill a little before you let the cyber world consume you.

I haven't spoken out about any of this before in an effort to not "rock the boat". The general pulse of the board has changed in the two years that I have been a member. I can't say it is exactly one reason or another. Since I became a member we have had the pleasure of having dinner with three members that were visiting Austin from out of town. Two of those three are now banned. Also, when bash time comes around, not all members can attend. There are work/kid/home obligations that just do not allow it.

Well now that I am unemployed keeping the site online is harder than ever. No other monies coming in to subsidize the cause. We need all of our members driving for the same cause not tearing it apart because you disagree with a decision.

If we didn't care so much about the group as a whole this place would have folded already, so why it's easy to say don't take it seriously there is more at stake than you know....

I'm not saying I disagree, bro, I'm merely stating you're taking this site too seriously. It's a montage of people from all over the world. Some will agree with you, others not. Don't get so consumed with those who don't. It'll eat you alive, brother. Trust me, I've been down that road.

If you need the users to fund this site, open up a way for us to pay for it. I promise it will be done. Keep your sanity, brother.

Doug, keep doing what your doing. Because of that is why this site has lasted as long as it has. There is going to be a bad bunch every where you go. If our good members would just not pay them any attention, they'd go away, but when they know they can get under ones skin, they just keep digging. Yourself, admins, and mods are doing a great job with this site. Thank you so much for giving us a place to get away. First and only bike site that I have been on and plan on keeping it that way. Again, Thank You for all that you do for us.

No idea who you know that has been banned but we completely understand with not being able to attend the bash, does that mean that you can't enjoy the people that are close? Everyone should seek out members from their local area, if you can attend the bash or Eureka thats great, those are not necessarily org events. I asked permission to go to the bash the first time, it is not something that I organize, neither is Eureka, the members pick the dates and I just attend and try to pass out some prizes and help where I can.

there seems to be this mentality that there is a "In group", perceive it how you will but it's incredible how people will automatically feel offended or left out of something when in fact there is no special group. I personally do everything I can to help people, in person and on the net. To think that we would treat anyone differently because you could not attend a regional event is far from reality...

Good thoughts .

Cap your comment about being unemployed and it being harder than ever to keep this ship afloat leads me to ask you if you would open the 'donate' link for members who may like to contribute a bit to help ?

I can't do it, for every 10 people that want to help there are those that think that we are stealing people blind. The only way to keep that perception completely clear is to not accept donations to the site itself. We have accepted donations for causes but all of the funds went to the cause....

I just don't want to go through those pains again, it opens the door for more problems and frankly the site has enough people now that are just waiting for something to jump on...

Cap, most of us stand with you and think you and the mods are doing great job! As Rev said you can't make everyone happy. Don't get too caught up on the whinners. Hang in there and sorry to hear about the job loss. If I can help you with anything at all, please let me know.

Thanks,

Jeremy

As far as im concerned if some one want to make a donation to this site, i think you should allow us to do so! As far as donations go, i could care less if some one knows that im a donating member, so drop the rotating balls!
Doug you give a place to converse with each other, and to make friendships!
I know for a fact that operating this site is far from cheep! You put many hours of your personal time into it. As well as having to deal with the grief that it in tails also!

Captain, you can either keep *****ing about the 10 people who want to gripe about how this site is greedy, or you can open it up to the hundreds who would donate to keep it alive. I'll be perfectly honest, I'd pay $10 to keep an account here, especially given your financial circumstances. Most of us here aren't here to mooch off of you. I'd give cold hard cash in order to stay in touch with you folks. All you gotta do is give me the opportunity.

At the very least make it voluntary and give us a Paypal address to donate to.

Cap you will NEVER be able to make 100% of the people happy here it is just human nature everyone is different even if we have the same interest. You have to know that the general consensus of people LOVE DRAMA just look at the most popular T.V. shows they are all reality shows, if someone doesn't like it here the hell with them there's the door. Are they gonna badmouth the .Org when they get on another board? yeah you bet they will, but smart people know there are 2 sides to every story. You know I registered on Extreme Busa the other day made a post introducing myself got a warm welcome but it just didn't feel like the .Org not taking anything away from EBC ,that looks to be an awesome board with some cool people this place just feels like home.Cap it should not all be your worries about paying the bills here this is our playground and we all owe it to the site to help pay for a new swing set or sea saw when its needed, besides if someone wants to criticize when they donate then that person is a hippocrit and was looking for personal gratification. Cap this is a great place we have here so sit back relax and let us help and enjoy the ride

This thread isnt going where I wanted it to... Let's discuss how we keep the friendships going, lets talk about perceptions and maybe I can answer some questions or put some minds at ease... I just want the members to know that you are each empowered with making this place what you want it to be, it takes help and involvement from everyone...
