Hey guys, new to the forum, but have been reading a lot on the gen 2 busas and the work done by Johnny Cheese in Round Rock Texas. I bought a used k8 with TIForce exhaust, race filter, and PCIII. I hooked up the usb to the pcIII and see that there is a custom tune on the bike, but dont know anything about where it was done or who was responsible. I am trying to convince the wife to let me take it to Johnny tomorrow (i live in austin) to get him to dyno and remap. I will post before and after results tomorrow if I can get the work done.

if you're going to do that, have him get rid of the power commander, reflash your ecu and use petriks program. The ecueditor is far more advanced, the hardest is finding a qualified tuner, which Johnny is.

I wish I lived in Texas. From what I've heard, he'd be doing all my tuning as well.

Sounds like everyone is still in agreement with going with Johnny for tuning! I called him this morning and will be heading over there at 1.

Doesnt sound like Johnny needs much more positive feedback, but I will let you guys know what he does this afternoon. BTW, I have owned several bikes, last was a gen1 that I really did do much with, just left mostly stock. I am new to the "tuning" world of bikes and only have some tuning experience with cars.

What are the advantages/disavantages of the PCIII over and ECU flash or the other way around??

You said convince the wife to let you go, but you are going today?
Have you called Johnny? I think he goes by appointments?

I have had my 2 bikes and a friends Turbo done with him. Pleased with all 3.

I have the ECU editor stuff now and will probably take my 05 back to him to do with teh editor and take off the PCIII

Go to Johnny and drop the PC. Let him flash the ECU, and do a few things more than just tune the A/F map

Yeah, I called Johnny yesterday and he said he had some time today... That was the easy part. Convincing the wife was the only hard part left. Check and Check!

Went to see Johnny today... Great guy and really knows his stuff. Found out that my bike was not a Johnny virgin once the tank came off and the Johnny signature appeared. I spent abou an hour with or so with him tweaking a few things on the PCIII and he was able to squeeze 186 "true" hp out of the bike. He said flashing probably wasnt necessary with those numbers. Great learning experience from a very knowledgable guy. The extra few hp were very noticeable at low throttle positions/rpm.

Highly recommend Johnny to anyone who can come see him!

Just ordered the soups rear drop kit to help transfer power to rear tire... will remove extension if I still get dreaded rear wheel spin.. Wheel spin actually increased dramatically post cheesey tune.
