1) yep, in NY today and this week.(Scar @ Jul. 25 2007,12) So let me make sure I've got this right...
1. you're on the east coast,
2. you're moving your bike to Colorado Springs this winter, (might be a bit snowy)
3. there was a group in SD this past weekend (and I didn't know about it?) GAWD help me. I wasn't here anyway, but I'd have bailed on the family reunion in order to be in town for a planned function! (If I could have.)
4. I travel a lot, as well, but not more than a couple of weeks per month. What do you do? Do you ever get to the predictably balmy Pacific Southwest? You know you have a place to stay if you want to take advantage of it.
5. Another sweet photo. Thanks. I ache to be there now.
6. I believe I'm slated to come to Deal's Gap next Spring (me & Lamb at a minimum, from SD). Where are you in relation to that?
7. I'm hoping for a large-scale turn-out for the SoCal Meet Up Weekend. Any trix you'd like to share would be quite welcome.
RSVP.
Scar
2) one of my best friends lives there, I love the roads and figure since I dont have a home/place to keep the bike its as good as any place to have it.
3) yep sure was.. the 3rd annual MNG was held up in the black hills. there's a few threads around the general area from it. not as big a turn out as the last 2 but looks like they had a fantastic time and hit some great roads.
4) I'm a computer engineer type, work with cisco call center products and I travel basically 100%, just over 300nights in a marriott in the past 12months. I dont ever get out to cali but have a good buddy out there thats been trying to get me out there for a while. Appreciate the offer, I gotta get my anus out there sometime so we'll definitely have to hook up and ride some
5) hehe ... I have a few more, look at my webshots

6) That would rock! I used to live about 5hrs from deals gap. Have to see how the spring plays out but I'll be there in some capacity, busa or something
7) The only real tricks are driving interest and keeping it visible. Local bike shop flyers, little stickie notes or bus. cards made up that point out the site and the event. Keep people talking about the event, drive the thread(s), post lots of information. The real trick is how easy it is for folks to attend.
I know we've done some big ones here and I've helped organize some huge ones for the avalanche group. Folks have to A) have the time B ) have the interest/motivation to go and C ) afford it. If you make the event into something more than just standing around, put something out there that they wouldnt do otherwise or couldnt do anywhere else, they are much more likely to attend.
For example the avalanche group has a large event in TN each year. One of the things they get to do is drive on the nascar track there. Hot laps in your own truck is a motivator, as most places you cant do that stuff. Also they have events for family members. Even with the bikes, if there was something for wives/kids you'd get more draw with this membership I suspect ... could be wrong. Lots of cool things in so cal I'm sure
