So this morning i thought i would give both my Busa's there monthly run up to temp.
I connect the battery back up on my Black/Grey one. Alarm fob was working, but would not turn the alarm off.
So i could not get the bike started. I'm now going to remove the whole alarm from the bike.
I then go to start the Copper/Silver project Busa. Nope it did not want to start. It turns out for some reason the fuel pump have given up. So i need to replace the pump inside the pump housing.
What gets me is both bikes started first time when i had them running 3 weeks ago.
Add this to having to replace the 2 year old battery on my RT as well. It's a good start to 2026

Hi. So lets hope the not so good start of 2026 turns out to be a great end to 2026 for you.

I have not dealt with a foreign bike with a security key nor an alarm. However, you mentioned that the battery was completely disconnected and that throws up a flag. Some systems require a procedure to follow when they are completely dead and then energized. Like some modern cars, when swapping the battery, they lose all of the closed-loop changes to the fuel injection. They have to be idled for a while until the computer starts to tune them again or they stall out. Check the instructions for that alarm. Is there a reset procedure when swapping batteries?

Motors do not die all at once. The starter relay did not blow? There is no fuel controller that was not missed during the connection?

I’m not a fan of aftermarket systems, I’ve had too many dramas over the years.

The Suzuki chipped keys with an immobiliser are pretty good though.
4 of my current bikes have them and there have been zero issue. My B-King was in storage for while, and now gets very little use, but after 18 years there’s no difference to my older bikes in how the battery holds up.

I have had dramas with aftermarket alarms and immobilisers but never anything related to the Suzuki factory fitted system.

The OEM smart key systems are generally seen as a good thing. They stopped for hot wiring bikes and stopped ride away thefts, as well as making stolen bikes harder to put back into circulation. Folk soon learnt that’s it’s a bit more inconvenient if you lose a key as a downside. I can’t remember the last car I had without a chipped key.

So i first of all changed the battery in the alarm fob just incase it was going bad.
Nope it did not work. So i ended up removing the whole Datatool alarm from the bike.
And yes, first press of the started and the bike fired up and is now running.
So thats one bike sorted.
I've now orderd a Kemso fuel pump for the project bike at just £48GBP, which is the same price i paid 3 years ago when i fitted one to my black/grey busa.
I know the project busa is not going to be used, but i like knowing that it will be working as it should.
I've also orderd a new battery for my BMW RT.
