Is Motul 300V 10W40 decent oil. I just put in my bike...

and it wasn't cheap. The guy behind the parts counter, whom I know and has been wrenching for years, said it's good stuff for down here in the heart of Texas. First time I have used "green" oil!

The question is for anybody who has actually used the oil. Obviously if someone hasen't used it they wouldn't have an opinion on it.

Thanks. I'm not afraid of it being bad for my bike. I really am wondering if it might possibly be a better oil for the high temperatures we are going to start having. In all reality i am Obsessive Compulsive about my bikes when I first get them (wanting everything perfect) and then I return to normal in a couple of weeks and remember that nothing in the REAL WORLD is perfect except for the actual art of riding itself! lol

I have used Motul 300V in my last 2 bike ... cbr 929 and now my busa ... and i would have to say i love it ... don think i would use anything else. smoothed out my shifts and seems to make the bike run a lil cooler. I would say a great pick... but yea you are right it does cost a pretty penny....

Thanks folks. i'm finally over my "new to me" used bike Obcessive Compulsive Disorder. Only thing I might do is the cam chain tensioner "stick the allen key in the hole and push till you hear a click" adjustment as it is a little noisey. I can live with it either way as I know it's not going to hurt anything.

I have used everything and just recently filled er up with Motul 300. My buddy I got it from said when they were doin Dyno & Strip runs at Muzzy's they allways got a couple extra HP with the Motul.

I like it so far ... 200 miles. Smoother, less false nuetrals. A gal here cost $56, how much where u are?

Pretty much the same price here. Probably does make it run a hair cooler. Hot Texas weather is soon to be here! Glad I put that Muzzy fan blade on!

I'm having some problems after switching from Motul 7100 to Motul 300V. The 300V appears to make the bike harder to shift into 1st. It shifts fine, but has a pretty loud clunk, like the clutch is dragging a lot more. Increased film strength of the 300V green colored oil, causing clutch drag?

Has anyone else noticed harder shifting when using Motul 300V (10W-40) as compared to Motul 7100 or Amsoil Metric (10W-40)?

It should be noted, I switched to 300V and it's brown colored due to the Motul 7100 residue (1/2 of a quart). I'm wondering if the Motul 7100 residue is affecting the 300V viscosity and film strength?

I would be surprised if this were the case, but would not be surprised if your shifting smoothed out after next oil change. I've been using 300V for years in the Gen 2 Busa, and a '14 DL1000. Both of these bikes were switched to 300V from a different oil brand and in both cases I observed easier, quieter shifts almost immediately.

I decided NOT to use 300V in the 230cc trail bike - running 7100 there, coincidentally.

Thanks for the info. If it's not too much trouble, are you able to confirm that when the engine is really hot (full operating temperature) that you do not get a "clunk" into 1st gear with the 300V oil in a Hayabusa 2nd Gen?

I noticed smooth shifting into 1st when cold, but when hot, it "slams" into 1st gear. I did notice Motul 7100 oil does not do this, but I want to give 300V another try. I may try one more oil change with 300V, because it has excellent reviews and test results.

Are you kidding? I've had complete strangers at a stoplight roll the window to ask me what that clunk was - a '14 Gen 2 from N to 1st - but that might be my neighborhood ;)Now I'm wondering if it's noticeably quieter after an oil change. Get back to you on that in about 1,500 mi

FYI, the only thing I do differently with 300V is keep the interval around 3.5k mi. It's tempting to leave it in longer but in my use-case, it might take me 18 months to put 6k mi on the Gen 2. My OCD worries there might be oil breakdown when left in the engine that long. Not likely, I'm guessing, but it's my way of spoiling this superbike. YMMV

HTH

I used Motul last oil change and had the clunk. Then switched to Rotella T6 and I no longer have that clunk. It shifts better. Just my limited experience.
