my agent quoted me a 1850 for full coverage and 87 for liabilty(sp). i already have two bikes on the card, plus my home and 3 autos through the same agent. so a good record doesnt help when comes to the BUSA. is this normal? thanks for any input.

Can't tell you if that's normal cuz I'm CDN, but I can tell you that I pay 1480 CDN a year with everything but collision.
Collision would bring it well over 2200........I'll just fix the damn thing if I drop it.......if someone else hits me.....there insurance will pay......hopefully.

Might go with private insurance soon.....heard it's way cheaper than 1500 even with collision.

In my opinion if you're a good enough rider you'd be better off putting the money that full coverage would cost you into a bank account for any repair costs you might run into.

That would also cover engine failure, preventive maintenence, tires, and if you did drop your bike chances are you can get it repaired much cheaper than insurance would pay for it.

Financed my bike, so I don't have a choice about full coverage or not. It will be paid for next year and I will reduce my coverage to just the minimum.

only problem being if the thing gets stolen. that would ruin my year. are there any theft devices that are affective on bikes. i normally dont leave it anywheres for a long period away from home. just ride and put it in the garage. i figured that in 3 to 4 years if it stays with me i'd be even if it got stolen if i only had libailty(sp) insurance.

Who are you using for insurance? Give State Farm a call and see what they can do for you.
