Yeah, I had a silver/grey cream puff 1980 280ZX T top. Wutta sweet running inline FI six. Hated the 85 mph speedo of that era though. Haulin azz across Utah one morning about 3:00 and before I had a radar detector, I was stopped by a UHP cop who had me sit in his front seat while he wrote me a speeding ticket. In case I’d been drinking? His dash mounted radar unit was blinking 99 99 99. It only had two digits in the display and he said that’s all he needed to know, that I was running somewhere over a hundred! I was actually doing 130 or so according to the tach. I-80 was so empty on a Tuesday morning @ 3:00 that not one car passed us during the time it took him to write the ticket. Wutta waste of time. But, in 1980 it only cost me $45.

nice story :)
but compared to today, $ 45 was a lot of money in 1980, wasn't it?
because how many hours did you have to work for that time and how long today?
might be a "little" difference ;)
$45 in 1980 is equivalent to about $140 today. A ticket for 40+ mph over the limit today will cost quite a bit more than $140
