Ok guys , i'm adding a Busa to the garage (the 1098 needs company). My goals are complete streetability and reliability while shooting for 250hp on a turbo. If you turbo-pro's could do it all over again.. start from scratch... what would you do to hit 250 safely? I'm shopping for an 06-09 right now waiting on a good deal. I know the 06/07 is completely different than the 08/09 and honestly year doesn't matter quite as much to me as current mileage. I just wanna make sure that once this thing is apart, everything that needs to end up in there, gets in there, i don't wanna end up kicking myself for not throwing new valves or springs in while I'm in there. If its as simple as calling Richard at RCC and just getting a stage 1 with some upgraded HD clutch springs then so be it. But I DO run my bikes hard, I DO plan on taking it to the track, this bike will not be babied. As far as budget goes... maybe 6k including turbo. Think you guys can help? What would some of you builders suggest to a customer with that type of budget/concerns?

i think youd be hard pressed to get a bike for 6k
but to spend 6k over top of the intial cost is quite an easy task

RCC stage 1....studs, clutch springs, spacer....you could buy one of his redone kits for like $3800 I think or around that price...then have 2K for "boost controller, gauges, back cut gears, intercooler ect....any other parts you might want to add. His redone kits are great options. Your power level on a gen 1 is easily done and there are a ton of bikes and R&D out there.

If I was going to go with only 250hp total streetability with NO chance I'd want to upgrade for more hp. I'd get an RCC kit, bolt that baby on a stock motor. Throw 6-7 lbs (max) at it and ride it. Just be careful on top end runs to either spray water or innercool it and run good gas and be done with it. Stock reliability with good hp.

The only thing I would do different would be to maybe get an innercooler and go with a plenum with a blowoff.

Pinky can build ya a kit with secondaries for that price I bet.

Stage one kits are okay...but a real fueling system is the biggest upgrade of the stage 2 kits.

thats a good budget for a turbo to be honest
get some minor motor mods and boost it and youll be good to go with the goals you're looking for

but ill say this youll want more down the road ;)

if you are getting a stage 2 then you might as well have the motor built as well.

it seems that you are not sure on your goals. You say your goal is 250hp and then you start talking about a stage 2. Any decent stage one will make 250hp with no problem. Many people on here( including myself) start off with a lower goal and quickly realize we want more. When you change your mind like that....it costs money. You end up spending money twice. My advice to you would be to buy a stage 2, have your motor built, and just tune it for 250hp. you can always turn it up later. Your goal should be to only pull the motor once and only once.

You are right. After re-reading the whole post again, i see that you didnt mention anything about a stage 2. I wasnt trying to offend you.

3500-4500 in a motor (built to handle up to 600 if someone knows what they are doing) plus labor

then the turbo pending who you buy it from the cost varies

i dont have a lot of cost in my prostreet bike but me and my builder do all our own work and my motor is built by me (all my motors i do from now on (saves me a lot of money too) (but you have to know what you are doing or you can really mess something up ;) )

I want to understand, you want to put the turbo on and spend 6K? a stage1 kit from RCC can easly be purchased, installed and tuned, for 6K on a 99-07 busa, the 08-09s have higher comp will need motor work can still be done but not for 6K if you have to pay for the motor mods, what I am not clear on is your post, it indicates you include the price of the motorcycle in the 6K budget?
