So without putting it all back together how do you know if you have cut off enough

You might want to set the upper tail in place and see but I think you may want to raise the side cut about a 1/2 or 3/4, the back looks right

I was lookin' at your first pic and thinking you've got a ways to go. I don't think I have any plastic left and the Yana Shiki Undertail is very similar shape to the one I have.
