I dont want to start an argument, but for conversation sake, I just dont get it. With the debt deal looming, record numbers of unemployed, 14.3 trillion in national debt, our country is in the toilet. We are joke to the rest of world. Now, put the rest of the world on hold for minute, and lets just talk about our own soil. Social Security is now known as an "entitlement program". I have paid into that since I started working, since its my money how is that entitlement? I also pay for insurance, of all kinds. I pay in roughly 46% of my gross earnings to social security and taxes, and yet they want to raise taxes. Gasoline is taxed, and if that isnt good enough, there are folks wanting to tax the miles I drive. Wasnt this country founded because the people who settled it were over taxed to begin with?
I just wish we could bring all troops home, deal with what we need to deal with in our own country and leave the rest of world to figure their own crap out. Why do we have to be the world police? Why cant we feed children in downtown Detroit, sure I feel bad for little kaji in timbuctu, but I dont live there. Let his government figure out to help their own country. Sorry for the rant, I am just frustrated. Large portions of industrial manufacturing has moved overseas, US companies make the mighty dollar and save a bundle by paying people pennies on the dollar to make their products, doest do much good if their target customers cant afford to buy it.
Now I am facing losing my child tax credits, losing the tax credit for the interest on my home loan, my home value has dropped 30% in the last two years, where does it end? Reminds me of the movie Running man, corporations run everything, including the military and media, you have upper class and poverty, no middle class.
Gee James, get out and vote! Right, like that matters with the electoral college, and yes I do vote, but it should go back to popular vote. I dont care how, balletts, twitter, vote on facebook for all care, but do away with the outdated electoral college and the man/woman with the majority vote is the President. I also think that NO one should be a career politician. We should have a new House and Senate every 2 years. Why is that not so? Money. Money drives everything, and its not a big deal if you have some of it. I dont want to be rich, never will be, but at least leave me alone, let me work and provide for my family and chase the American Dream. Arent I allowed to do so by the Constitution? I am just sick of it.

Amen brother. Just too bad you are preaching to the choir.. :beerchug:

I posted an article on the extreme division of wealth in this country when I was feeling the exact same way as you right now, and everyone seemed pretty OK with it. Unfortunately I don't think you'll get much sympathy here(though I could be wrong and it's just me).

It's going to get much much much much worse before it gets better, so at least there is that to look forward to.

VERY NICE POST
It wont do anything to complain but I know it feels alittle better when you vent about this stuff.

The whole time they are having the debates over whether to raise the debt limit, what to cut from the budget, and whether to raise taxes, the new spending didn't stop. Executive orders to create new organizations were implemented.

Until they learn to be good stewards of the people's money, not just talk about needing to be, they should not get any more of it. All that will be accomplished by any tax increases now is more uncontrolled spending and bigger deficits.

We have done this to ourselves. Elected people who pandered to whomever could get them reeelcted, who did not have the courage or moral fiber to DO THE RIGHT THING, and created our own worst monster by giving people too easy a way out. Created a generation of "ME GIMMEE ME". They just kicked the can down the road till after the 2012 election. Jeez I hope the conserative win, then have the guts to stand up to their own consitutents and do the right thing with reason. It's going to take tax increase, and it's going to take spending AND ENTITLEMENT cuts to get us out of this hole. No sacred cows. EVERYBODY contributes (including TAKERS that are bleeding the system dry). I contribute to the system, and I expect to contribute more, but only if I see those who are leeching off it also take less.

I honestly do not see how we as a voting people, citizens, can change anything. Money will always win out. Who spends the most gets elected, who spends the most gets their cause moved. As long as we have the current form of government, that are not governed by the people, we are doomed.

I liked this, not that I like that this is happening, I like that someone else realizes this also. I really do feel with the system as far gone as it is, there really is literally nothing we can do about it. Money rules all, and we don't have it.

Here is an article I found a couple days ago, semi related to the topic, but I think it outlines how they've become so very able to just walk all over us. It is an ongoing process over the years, and it's embraced with open arms a little bit at a time.

I totally agree 100% with your post.

I have often wondered at what point will we ,as a whole, have had enough and take a stand, not a violent stand but a stand to stop all the bs we are having to deal with as working class people. We are getting taxed on everything we do and watch as our country is drug down with an unbalanced trade deficit.

You know, we get these emails about... not driving for a day.....for 1 month do not buy anything not made in the US....buy only from this gas station......but as a whole, we dont back one another.

Having a special needs daughter.....we could use some help with medical bills at times, but we dont qualify for anything because of how much we make...but I spend $15k-$20K a year on her....and low life blood suckers that dont work have more and more kids and I get to pay for theirs as well.

There need to be drastic changes in the way our government operates, that is a fact. It seems that we as the general population are the only ones that see that though.

I would start by not paying for all the foreign aid we pay for and bring most of our troops home. Then I would stop the BS grants and programs like how the urine of a hamster effects the atmosphere on Jupiter. Who gives a crap!

I certainly don't have all the answers, but I could name a few places to start. Raising taxes on an already strapped population is NOT the right answer.

Amen brother, it doesn’t take much to see the forest thru the trees, kind of makes you wonder what our government sees.

Amen, all good posts and it is sad but true, the country is going down hill faster than a busa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont get me wrong, I am not advocating violence. But see what happens when a large group or lets just say for the sake of arguement, no one, paid their taxes next year. Or if no one voted, nobody, not one single ballot was cast. Those are not the answers, but how do we get politicians to be accountable?

I believe these are the answers. If you want a radical change, radical measures are the only way to instigate that change.

The plan for a One Nation Government(the U.N as a world governing body) has been proposed and in the works for many years now. One day China will come calling for their money. Our country is obviously in bad shape. The "New World Order" will be the answer to make the masses happy, but it will only be the begining of bigger problems.
Have you ever seen a U.S presidenatial candidate campaign so much overseas like Obama did? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the writing on the wall is there.
Our congressmen and senators admit they don't even read most of the bills they sign, as they are "too long to read". Doing your job half a$$ed truly is the American way. Yet we can't get these clowns out of their seats. Our once great country has been infiltrated by wealthy, powerful, foreign people in the last several decades.
Our represenatives as a majority cater to the highest bidder, and do whatever benefits themselves at the time. As things become more expensive they just squeeze more from the general public. Problem is, there's not much left to squeeze out.
Years of mismanagement have caught up, and the plan to run America downhill is working fine.
Don't belive it? Sit back and watch.
Political correctness and not offending anyone is also a bunch of BS. I belive in equal rights and opportunity for all, but don't cry and think you're owed something because someone said something offensive to you. Be grateful for the opportunities provoded here in the U.S.
I HATE our government, but I love our country.
May GOD bless America, AND the rest of this world, we need it.
Just my 2 cents, rant over:beerchug:

These are also just my opinions, and are in no way directed at anyone or any post in this thread.

I think the start of this was last fall when the House elections took place. There is a snapping point, and if things do not change, something will break and it will not be pretty.

Do you guys know about Ron Paul? I don't want to start a "my politician is better than yours" match but, I believe in him so much that I feel obligated to spread the word. Please check him out, he has been saying eveything that you said above for years. The country is starting to finally wake up and it's a beautifull thing. I just hope that we move forward and away from the fascism/socialism that is bleeding us to death rather than back into the arms of our dictators.

We are being conditioned to believe that there are free things in life. Free rent, free meals, free checks, free monies, free medical, free you name it.

When the politicians promise freebies they see potential votes. Votes keep them in office. More freebies, more votes, more time in office.

Nothing is free.

If the little I know of him is true, then more power to him...and good luck.
The main problem in our government is that there are so many powerful corrupt people calling the shots, that a good man stands little chance to get elected, let alone make positive changes.
I'm also not a negative person, but there comes a point when a problem is too far gone. The only answer becomes to start over completely. America's goverment needs some serious restructuring.
One man can make a difference, but the odds of what needs to be done in this country happening are astronomical.:beerchug:

So I take it that Ron Paul voted against sending troops to Iraq and Afgansistan, voted against the stimulas packages of Bush and Obama, always voted to decrease welfare and wealthfare, voted against or introduced legislation to stop giving tax breaks to US companies that offshore?

I'm not trying to start a debate or down your guy, but in the end he is still a politician.
