OK looks like time may be winding down. Time to buy that last great rifle and I am having a really hard time deciding.

I don't have a piston driven AR so I've narrowed it down to two choices.

Sig 556 Swat edition

OR

FN FS2000

Thanks for bearing with me,

Chris

Personally I would stick with the AR platform. The biggest reason being there are a ton of mil spec parts and accessories available for it. 10 years down the road if something breaks you won't have any trouble finding parts.
I don't know enough about the SIG or the FN to have an opinion on which one would be better, just know if they become hard to find the guys with AR platform weapons will have a much easier time finding part.

Just my 2 cents

BTDT. I've been collecting black rifles for years now. I've got pretty much every variation of AR (Colts, Oly arms, Bushy's, Armalite (ar10), and one S&W M&P). Just don't have a piston driven one.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Sig. Hopefully my dealer can find one or the other.

Thanks again,
Chris

I like the traditional look of the Sig compared to the FN. I would stick with AR just for cheaper parts. If you think about it you're delivering the same round down range.

Go with the AR and as a Sig junkie good choice but I'd have a
gander at Rock River...the best AR value. Top notch quality with
many features standard.

Well looks like the Sig has it. Now, I'm just trying to find one. I hate waiting.

I wouldn't buy the FN FS2K unless you have multiple other 5.56 rifle and are just looking for something interesting.

I had my FS2K on order for about 6 months. In the meantime they went through a recall because there was an issue with commercial ammo and the FS slam firing. Big problem. However, FN patched together a fix so that it no longer slam fires commercial ammo, but the 2 post recall examples I fired would no longer reliably fire Mil-SPec 5.56 and their harder primers.

So, I said to heck with it, it's an awesome package though, shooting it is a kick in the butt but the inconsistency I saw early on were enough to make me ??? owning one. All I have is mil-spec 5.56 so buying a rifle that couldn't reliably fire it made no sense.

However, if you're firing mostly .223 from Winchester etc? You'll prolly be in great shape.

7.62 I think it may be better than a 5.56
This was my favorite rifle we had a large collection, this one stood out from the others may not be a cal. you looking for but it was fun at the range FN FAL

Yeah, I don't think anyone argues that 7.62 isn't more powerful, though "better" is subjective in a lot of ways. If I'm hiking in the woods I'd rather be carrying a lightweight AR and 300 rnds, than trying to carry a similar amount of 7.62X51 and an M1A1 or FNFAL.

Though the OP is actually looking for opinions on which 5.56, not 5.56 or Something else. :beerchug:

.30 cal is too heavy. The .223 was made for a reason!

I've played with an FN once, different model, been about five years ago. Want to say it was there first pistol of this type. Plastic see through mag that loaded on top. Variable trigger; depending on how far back you squeezed single shot, three shot, or full auto. It was a blast. They're local
