We will be leaving for a cross country trip in our new fire engines from Florida on Sunday the 20th. Original thread -

I need to find a list of cool things we must see or do on this once in a lifetime trip. If I don't have anything printed out ahead of time the Chief will be mister "stay on schedule" and we won't see or do anything. Half the trip is outlined below were I need help. From Tampa Florida to WA State.

You can click the "map" button beside each driving instruction to see what roads we are on. Thanks for your help in advance as I am drawing a blank and want this to be more than just DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE.

I say hit the lights and siren and see how fast you can make it home.

Nothing to see here in GA. Once in TN you could run Deals Gap. The bikers would love you for it.

or when you hit Atlanta make a left and head West until you hit Fort Worth,TX turn right and stop in OK to visit the Captain.

Two questions.
1)  When did Pierce move to FL?  When I was in the FD we got our trucks from WI.
2)  If your from WA why does your trip end in UT?

Probably the only thing I miss when I left CT. I was a Volunteer Firefighter for about 4 years.

Pierce has two plants, one in WI and one in FL. The chassis and drive train are manufatured in WI. Then that unit is sent to FL where the box is made and the entire truck is then assembled. Not sure why they do it in two places or what series is done in what plant but I believe the HQ's are still in WI.

Trip doesn't end in Utah we are just stopping there to see the Chief's dad. I know the territory well from there to WA but was looking for help from Florida to midwest.

How many calls a year did you guys run? Why didn't you become a volunteer where you moved too? I bet you do miss it.

I don't know why I never got back into it.  I always think about it and really do miss it.

I was with the company from 1989-1993 and don't remember how many calls I went on but here is what they did last year.  Give or take the population is about 15000
