HELP!! bar end removal

i know to loosen the screw on the bar end but what the h*** do they put them on with? J.B. weld!! i cant get the screw out on either side.

so....whats the trick?

wrap a rag around the bar end and use some channel locks to turn the bar end and screw will come out.

Loosen by grabing the bar end itself and twisting off, then hit up the screw. Had to vice grip mine.

No joke, dont try to turn just the screw itself, you will always strip the head. Why couldnt they use an allen head instead of the crappy phillips heads?

thats exactlly what i was tryin to do. figued out right quick there was a "trick" to it. the .org comes through again!!

the way they do some of the stuff on the bike baffles me. it would have been just as easy to use a "countersunk" allen head but once you know how to do it its too simple. almost makes you feel really dumb.(disreguard the "almost")

after the guys let me know how, it took all of 2 minutes to swap em out

I heated it up a bit w/a propane torch and it came off easier.

I use a philips bit with a small socket wrench, works every time.

A hammer powered impact screw driver will get it off as well.
