Ok went riding this weekend with a buddy on his gixxer1000. He was adament about trying to be me. Well make the story short. I beat on our bikes for about 3 hours. Well after each race we would either get stopped by a light or stop sign, the engine would heat up very high. I have been doing some reading about Engine ICE. I want to get that but in road racing (cars) knowledge I always changed out the thermostat. Does anyone know where to get one. And does Suzuki actually make and if so Does anyone know the part number.

Don't know the part number, but I would change your stock fan and install the aluminum one from Muzzy - may want to put a toggle switch on it to energize before the thermo activates it....

jmaz,
I'm running the Muzzy fan and Engine Ice. My bike was cooler than many others last week in Daytona. Am looking into a second fan powered by a relay and a seperate switch. DREW has an '04 LE with a "PASSING" light switch (it flashes the high beams) I can do that with my high beam switch. I wonder if the switch could be used for the HID or second fan.?

This was taken from Suzukihayabusa.org

These are the best mods you can do to your bike to help it run cooler. I’m sure the 2 fans work very well, but with a turbo installed, I can only run 1 fan. Not enough room for 2.
I did this mod & even with a turbo, in stop & go traffic, in the S.C heat…..my needle never goes above the halfway line. It’s no secret that the stock cooling system is taxed. You’re sitting on 1.3 liters. That’s a big engine. The biggest problem I see with the stock cooling system is, when the fan kicks on, the bike is already running hot. Here’s what you do.

1. Install a Muzzy’s aluminum fan, make sure you bend all the blades evenly. Bend them so you will get maximum air pull when the fan is turning.

2. Install the Honda hp 50/50 premix coolant. It comes in little blue bottles. You will need about 3 or 4. In case you didn’t know water is the best coolant for your bike. It’s just not feasible to run straight water. But the higher water to coolant ratio you have, the easier it is for the cooling system to keep your bike cool. (DON’T RUN STRAIGHT WATER!!)

3. The most important step install a thermo switch from a Honda accord/civic. I went to a junkyard & got mine for free. You have to know what you are looking for & where to look depending on which car it is and what year it is. You have to remove the thermo switch from the pipe/radiator, when you cut the wires, make sure you leave enough room to wire it back to your bike. If you want to purchase a new one, the part # will be 37760-P00-003 or 37760-P00-004 depending on the car. This switch allows the fan to kick on before the bike starts to run hot.

Engine Ice!!!!! I can't tell you if the stuff hurts your engine in the long run(never heard of it doing so), but i can honestly tell you it keeps it cooler. I have it and the bike stays cooler than it used to. it never ran too hot, but now doesn't go above the mid line. It doesn't even fully reach the mid line. befor i switched it would get a little above the mid line. I'm planning on adding the muzzy fan befor the summer really kicks in too! good luck.

Will the fan be enough alone. I live where heat is not useally a problem, but stop and go traffic get the engine warm, but I'm going down to Laguna this summer and I'm sure traffic will be bad and it will be hot too.
What do you think do both mod's fan and thermo switch?
