And heavy, and top heavy.
And as much as I hate to give HD credit for anything, lol, at least they did something new, and came up with something fairly useable for what it was designed for.
Vs the same old, rearrange a bunch of old parts and give it a new name.

I wonder how they are selling?

I can't see die-hard HD people riding them nor do I see someone giving up their Beemer for one...

If they turned one into a sport bike I bet people would buy them

No idea, I've only seen one on the road too.
I agree on the HD crowd not being interested, BMW guys are usually brand loyal, and the Japanese and Italian equivalents are all much better.
I think it was a good attempt on HD's part, but their company is going to have to go in a new direction to survive.
Keep some classic models, and really branch out into adventure and sport bikes.
But, that is going to require some seriously competetive machines, pricing, and marketing.
I think their push of smaller cc bikes a few years ago was ridiculous, and of course was a flop.
As you said, a Good sportbike would really help them out.
I think it would be an uphill battle, but could be done.
If they'de get back into Superbike, when Buell was actually getting several podiums in the early 2000's, they could create a demand.
I think Buell's looks really hurt their sales, but it was foolish of HD to cut ties with him.
Buell's new bike looks the business, and if it lives up to the hype, imagine if HD had that in their line up.
They would probably be late to the parade though at this point, as gas powered sportbikes, as well as motorcycles in general, as we know seem to sadly be a dieing market.

Just like the Livewire which didn't seem to take off...there are lots of videos of them burning though...

I think HD has typecast themselves and they will never be able to breech this...

The Revolution bikes (Revolution Max Engined) are doing ok I think. I see more Pan Americas out and about than the other models. Die hard Harley guys do snub them for the new rev happy engine and sportier styling but I’ve ridden two of them and maybe it’s because I come from rev happy in lines that I don’t mind the engine. The Sportster needs mid controls ($700) tho to be comfy and is really low and compact. The Pan America is damn near perfect for what they were going after. Maybe someone who owns alone has found some faults but I’m a big fan of riding new bikes on someone else’s dime and I’ve ridden these repeatedly. Every time I’m on one I want to veer off the road as the bike inspires that off road confidence in spades. I don’t know how I feel about the new engine going in everything HD makes but that’s what dealers are expecting.
We will see.

HD does deserve an "E" for effort, they saw a lucrative market and made the brave foray into it....maybe it will pay off, maybe it won't....unfortunately for HD, they have typecast themselves.

I expect to see the demise of H-D once this happens:

The "potato-potato" of current H-Ds seems to be the main (only?) reason that people take out mortgages to buy the bikes.... once that's gone, what's left? An electric motor with enough chrome and tassels to embarrass Liberace? Not sure that will appeal.

If they do reinvent themselves and can make it a success, then good for them. The motorcycle industry is stronger with more players.
