Got my new Chain!

Finally in. Ordered it months ago (November at least). Also took the opportunity to purchase a chain riviting kit.

No more sloppy streached out chain sloshing around back there!

I hope to get it on this week. (Boy that dosen't sound at all like I'm talking about a chain!

)

Oil change too and I'm ready for this Sunday!

where did you get the tool and how much??

I got it from my local, small bike shop, Z-moto. They are a dirtbike shop but can get street parts. Definately a mom & pop set up and real friendly. The delay was with the back ordered chain. Their supplier said they did not have the 112 link and we waited for 2 months. We finally asked them if they had a longer one (& they did) and we got it in 3 days! Sounds like their suplier should have been more on the ball.

The chan riveter is a Motion-Pro kit (I'll check the stock # when I get home) and it was $100.00. There were cheaper ones but this kit does a variety of chains. It'll rivet chains and cut them. It does recommend that you grind the heads off of 530 and larger chains to cut (Or break them).

It is an RK 530GXW (I think)

It was the only one I could find that was rated for bukes up to 1400 CC. 10,000 lb average tensile strength, the highest I could find. It has some kind of super delux, cool wazoo, x-rings einstead of O-rings.

I just hope it lasts.

I just ordered an RK 530GXW (120 link, 10,000 lb tensile) chain and 17/41 (Sprocket Specialists) steel sprockets. They should arrive in a day or two. David at SR Axis Parts in Arizona was most helpful and cut me a heck of a deal - $170 to my door... I couldn't find anyplace else even close to this price. I would seriously recommend talking to him if anyone is in the market for new busa cogs. 'Just mention you heard about it here or via Paul from Florida ...

BTW - while removing the oem chain I noticed the marking 'GSV' on one of the links. I'd guess it's the RK GSV that's rated at 9,200 lbs tensile strength. Having close to 13,000 miles on it, I can't complain too badly about the roller wear though the sprockets seemed to still be in very good condition.

They have a couple 25 footers , plus a couple 100 footers.

Mikey : ya man....just use yer die grinder to cut them monkeys off , dont waste yer cool tool .
To think I still use me hammer an' punch to install...I'm such a fuggin' dinosaur .

USUAL SPIEL : replace as set/new chain on old sprogs bad.
keep close eye on it for a bit/does its most stretching early in life.
lube it or lose it....you guys know the drill.
