I guess I'm going to hold out hope it will be like the Kawasaki's and jump way up with an exhaust and tune. I hope to see a 30hp jump with just that once its tuned. Gonna hold out hope. Then at least if it does I'll have no problem finding one as they'll have dust on them.

Ill wait to actually see / ride one before discussing possible mistakes on Gen 3 . Coming off a 207 RWHP 113 tq Gen 2 I know what to expect in performance .
From reusing as much as possible the company stays in the green . Keep in mind there may very well be a hidden Easter egg in the ECU
Not many Birds stay stock long , and Suzuki knows this .
The header looks well designed for power , and the cat is moved far back appearing it may be removed with slip on cans. The wheels are new , and lighter i'm sure , but the swing arm still had the adjustment bolts located to low wearing on the axle blocks . I wonder what total weight reduction is ?

Yes it is possible Suzuki was going for area under the curve improvements vs peak power numbers.

I think the gen2 is reported as 589lbs wet

It is not easy to increase displacement . Going to a reliable 1441 equals a wider block / wider cases = means different engine . Total retooling of factory to make a engine . a Wider engine by a several mm's makes for frame / body work changes = a domino effect costing $$$$$$$

Suzuki only had 13 yrs to get it right......

I re-watched the tech video and there is a statement in that video which symbolizes the bike "an incredible performance potential waiting to be tapped"

All Suzuki needs to do is to keep selling the busa any way they can. They made the old bike slower, dressed it up and called it a Gen3. The people who just bought a Gen2 are rejoicing. My god, if there are any newbies out there buying a new busa, I hope they come here to get the scoop first. Dealerships will have a hard time pushing this one. The price of used Gen2s in good condition just went through the roof.

Looks like did some stuff to the motor. Different cams and head design and electric throttle body’s. Kinda sounds like a head and cam gen 2 busa. That really sucks I was hoping for a 1440. Maybe they will come out with a different motor soon.

I bought a zx14r because I was tired of waiting for zuk to do something big again like in 99. I love the bus but Im so pissed off about this. What a joke. Im sorry if I am offending anyone but what the hell? Reminds me of the saying that you can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig. Dammit Suzuki.! ... Well Im even more glad I switched now than ever. I still love my .org family but Suzuki gets coal for Christmas from now on. It is gonna take a while for me to recover from this. Dang. Im with you guys on the dissapointment. Mostly the price. Maybe going up a thousand or a little more for the new gizmos dash and plastics. But to take it up that much and not increase performance and worse fuel economy....hard to swallow. Regardless, I'm getting one. I love the new look way more than my gen 2. Plus cruise will be nice. I am going to wait till I can get a deal on one though. Not paying that price. I didnt pay anywhere near msrp on my new 19 a year and a half ago. Not going to on a 22 either

That's not why we buy these bikes. No thanks. I'll keep my peak power. I'm just ging to throw a bigger rear sprocket on my Gen2 for more low end grunt. Costs about $65 and I can switch it out anytime I want.

If you watch the video I posted, I think Suzuki was listening to us in many ways, they adjusted the riding position, gave us all the farkles we wanted including cruise control and LED lighting.

...and they know we will be modifying the engine output.....

So in my estimation, if someone was going out looking for a new Hayabusa and are willing to pay for a new old stock gen 2, they'd be far better to buy a gen 3 and spend some time modifying it...

As soon as @Boosted Cycle Perf and @ChrisMooreMafia figure out the ECU and do their magic, this bike will outperform the Gen 2 in almost every way.

It isn't the street dominating monster we were awaiting though.

Suzuki updated everything else in the engine, they could have easily made it a larger displacement-all that effort to redo the existing engine....

Now I can't wait to see one on the road....and then blow by it......

could have added GSXR1000R VVT , improve low end grunt, and shoot for top end.
i have never heard or seen a Euro 5 launch having less power, look at Ducati and BMWS1000RR they make more by invention and stick to ever tightening Euro emissions

a gen2 could have the same low down grunt with mild came and long stacks

now i have saved myself $20,000 all i need for my Gen2 is a Gen1 block and Gen1 cylinder head to make 1441

Gen2 3mm over is reliable enough. 2mm over no issue at all. They blew it not increasing displacement.

Just coming on here asking why their secondary injectors don’t seem to be working. I think the Busa is just as popular for it “around town driveability”as it is it’s all out performance.

I on the other hand and sound like you are the same hit the upper rpm range just about each time I venture out on mine lol.

I rarely if ever go into the higher rev range, and honestly all the power I have is wasted on me...I do like the feeling I get knowing I have this much power at my fingertips if I want to use it though.

Street dominance is not my goal so perhaps a bike such as the gen 2.5 would work for a guy like me.

I think we should all wait for proper independent evaluation testing before we are so tough on Suzuki.

For performance peak torque and Hp only tells part of the story. The actual curves of both tells a different story on pavement.

I have an older V6 Merc at 215hp and I pull away from all the new turbo 4 models putting out 250hp.

Unfortunately Euro 5 has a lot to do with this, who knows, maybe uncorked brings a surprise, for as long as we are still allowed to do that.

I think it would have been great if it was a 1440 but can't say I'm really disappointed. I love the new look and all the gizmos aren't cheap so I expected the price where it is. Looking at the cats and that huge exhaust I'd say that one they are removed and it's tuned for power the numbers will be really nice. But it'll be awhile before we see that so I'm not hating on it till then.

In the race world yes , but in everyday real world reliability , and low warranty costs by a manufacturer is a no with out a redesign . Example ZX based engine from 1056 cc to 1164 cc aka 1100 to 1200 required 2 mm additional wider block / head = new cases , and crank change .

Manufactures do not want warranty or recalls .
Do not take my opinion on the new engine as defense to Suzuki rather more a why X 1340 cc is not a suitable candidate for a big CC jump for mass production without issues down the road .

Something to see will be the Dyno run after a ECU flash , and exhaust .
