Very easy do it yourself operation. Here is a step by step.

1. Remove move seat, 6mm allen.
2. Remove two tank bolts (at the steering head) I have a GPR, so bolts
require a 5mm allen.
If memory serves me the stock are 4mm.

3. Locate the tank prop rod or suitable tool, raise the tank and use the prop
rod for support.
4. Remove the 10mm bolt at the top of the air box.
5. Remove the 11 Phillips screws holding the air cleaner lid. (Don't forget the
center screw) 10 are along the sides.
6. Lift out old filter, clean any debris in the air box, install new filter and
reverse the process.

why run a "race" filter on the street? I have several good reasons not to, just none as to why it is a good idea..

I'm staying stock, but would be curious about performance with a different filter. The Gen I was an excellent factory filter, don't know about the Gen II. Put a great flowing pipe on the '08 and wonder if the stock air filter can breath enough for it.

Mine is due for a change at 5k!! Real dirty!!! Going to a stock one! Traps dirt better!
