To change the air filter on the B King requires removing the air box. BEWARE -the shop manual instructions say to remove the screw on the clamps that attach the air box to the throttle bodies. LOOSEN - DO NOT REMOVE - the screws. If you remove the screws like I did, you will hear all the bits and pieces of the clamp assemblies falling away into the engine recesses as you pull the air box free. Luckily I retrieved all but one of the bushings from the two clamp assemblies. Right now a short piece of copper tubing is serving as a clamp bushing while the part is on order.
The K&N filter makes a small improvement to acceleration and it's nice to know it will last the lifetime of the bike. If you are planning to replace the air filter set aside about two hours. To get to the air box requires lifting the fuel tank. 9 panels come off the bike before the tank can be lifted. Lots of screws and clips to keep track of. The air box is held together with about a dozen screws one of which is in a recess in the center of the box.
Still love this bike.
