Fuel Pump Nightmare

I recently took my fuel pump apart to clean and replace the motor and put it back together, but when I went to start the bike it wouldn't start only crank. Took it out today and noticed that I had cranked down on the wire furthest to to the right while tightening down. The insulation of the wire was broken and I believe grounding to the base of the pump and the underside of the tank, stripped it back and threw a new connector on the end. Now I'm second guessing if I placed the middle and far left wires in the right place. The red is in the middle and the black wire is to the far left, did I do this to correct? I'm just not trying to put in back together and go threw the same motions. (Please see pic for details )
