How do you determine if the front pre-loads are equal? Is all the way out considered #8? Forget looking at the little lines, you cant see them well and it's deceiving. All you Pro's speak-up, thanks.

Turn them all the way to a stop, either all the way out or all the way in. Then start adjusting them from there making sure you do both sides the same.

Bill, screw them both down until they bottom out (gently). Just like an old Del Orto carburator, count the turns from bottom until you get to your upward destination...do the same to the other one, and you're there!

Thanks Doyle, you confirmed what someone else has told me. I was thrown because I did that initially from the factory settings and the right one took 1/2 turn more in than the left, so I can only assume this is factory slop

What does adjusting the preload do? I'm not a mechanic by the way. Some of you may have noticed already.
