Finally i went turbo

I have spend the last 3 years reading (i literally have read the whole Hayabusa site and more) saving money and buying the best available parts since repairs are not an option where i live (Greece), i had to succeed with the first attempt.
First i bought a MCXpress race kit with water intercooler and secondary injectors (used of course) from a German dragster member then a Bigcc scavenge pump along with a Mocal water-oil cooler, a Bigcc scavenge pump which i didn't used in the end (sold), some gears, pumps etc and finally saved enough money for the build and tuning from a specialist.
I am very happy now because believe it or not the whole project cost me 7000 Euros (about 9100$) when my yearly income is 13 to 16 thousand Euros, i even had to stop eating properly...
BTW my gen1 2007 model Hayabusa makes 270 hp easy, safely and with a full exhaust.
The only thing that bothers me is that it makes 270hp with 11.5psi boost, something that i consider a bit high.
Here are some photos...

Great job!! Welcome to the boosted life.
Thank you very much!
It took me some time but it was worth it.
The funny thing is that i have a faster bike now but i ride it much slower because i am pretty much afraid of it.
The acceleration after 5k rpm is frightening...
This site is great, it provided me with enough knowledge and will to proceed with my turbo project.
Chris.

Fear is respect, ultimately that will help keep you safer.

People think when I toss a leg over a 500hp bike I go out and ride it like a mad man. When in all reality it's just the opposite. Makes you really take your surroundings and road conditions in to account before twisting the throttle.

that was SPOT on!!!

I am much more careful now then I was makn 200 less hp years ago. yea things come up pretty freakn fast when u twist that throttle with a Turbo on board. ppl just have no early clue how hard a fast Turbo bike pulls.

it will make a man or a mouse out of you pretty quick.... yea my bike scares me! but, I respect its power. cause if you don't you will be DEAD!

That is so correct!!!
Btw i forgot to mention that i did lowered compression to about 9.5:1 with a gasket and that riding smoothly at 70 miles (115km/h) per hour yields 4.5 l/100km fuel consumption (always by what the ecu is calculating, later i will make a trip in order to take real world measurements) where before my NA bike was burning 5 l/100km at a speed of 55 m/h.

You have what appears to to a water-to-air intercooled plenum, but it is not connected - there is no heat exchanger on that bike. Is there a reason you did not take advantage of the tremendous benefits this would reap? You would be doing the bike big favor by taking this next step . . .

Im exactly the same way. Boost is scary and addictive.

No it is fully connected, the photos were taken early when everything was tested for good fitting.
It has a very good electric pump like the aftermarket ones for the main water cooling, a water cooler made from a cut spare hayabusa water cooler and an overflow tank.
Chris

:welcome: to the world of turbo :beerchug: I was much like you when I first got my bike. I watched many videos and realized how ridiculously fast these machines are. First turbo spooled and spiked too fast for my liking so I switched to a smaller turbo and I like how the bike starts to pull at 5k. I roll the throttle every now and then but I remind myself just how quick things happen, it still amazes me how fast this thing hits triple digits. Can't wait to up the boost......

Great, glad you did that. Not sure what octane is available to you, but 11 pounds of boost doesn't sound like a problem at all. You probably have some room to turn it up some . . . what fuel are you using?

I am using the racing 100 octane fuel for safety, the normal pump gas is 97 octane.
I don't know if i ever decide to raise boost as i prefer reliability, we are not USA you know...

Thank you so much for the good words.
Inside me there was a battle as i was afraid that i will ruin the bike by going turbo but now i am fine...
I must admit that if it wasn't for this site i would never had attempted this.
Chris

It's good to have you. I also learned much from this site the good and the bad. Where I stay not many people mod bike like turbo, pipes, extentions, you get the idea. It's good to have people willing to help, even with the stuff that's been asked a million times.

Thank you so much for your encouragement, i really appreciate it.
Yes this site is friendly enough to make me feel comfortable asking novice questions, as i said if it wasn't for this site and it's precious info i would never had gone turbo.
Chris

Aaaawwhhh, the pain in reading this. I've been thinking turbo ever since I've got my Hayabusa. Well maybe in a year or two...
I envy you. Good luck!

I think Americans call it "turbo porn"
