I almost always wear my helmet, but always gloves. In the summer my Alter Ego jacket is converted to mesh. I have seen people riding with no helmets, no shirts on, short pants, and I think about how cool it looks. Just not for me.

Helmet, gloves, jacket and boots. I wear the pants when I plan on riding hard and fast. A big change from a tee shirt a few years ago. A month scraping scabs off you arms and back can change anyone!

I ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET, BUT I USUALLY WEAR GEAR TO STAY WARM, HAVING SAID THAT, LEMME ADD THIS. I DONT DO HIGH SPEED RUNS, STUNT OR ANYTHING CRAZY OR RECKLESS.... I JUST RIDE AROUND, MOSTLY TO THE GYM OR TO FRIENDS HOUSES. I DRESS ACCORDING TO THE WEATHER.

I wear Helmet, armored jacket, armored boots and gloves. I lived out in the country and went on short, slow rides, it might be different. But for the one minute it takes to gear up, I think it's worth it for the split second my attention is diverted and while someone swerves into my lane or runs a red light.

(Over_Easy @ Jun. 14 2006,12:37)
(Black Bird Killer @ Jan. 03 2006,22:10) I layed my Busa down in Oct 04, had I been wearing a lid, it would have broken my neck because of the way I landed.  Ended up with a broken vertebrae and two broken ribs.  Full gear wouldnt have changed the outcome for the better.
Please explain that one..."helmet would have broken my neck"?
and "ended up w/ broken vertabrae and ribs" and gear wouldn't have changed anything???  What about body armor?

Are you a lobbyist or something Mr. Roethlissberger?
Landed head first, not on pavement. Doc said the added weight of the lid would have snapped my neck. Who knows, I know it would have prolly kept me from being knocked out. Anyway, body armor wouldn't have helped. When I wrecked, the passenger's weight came down on top of my lower body causing a compression fracture on my vertebrae and breaking 2 of my ribs.

However, how things have changed in a short time. By summer of last year I bought a new skid lid, boots, and an armored jacket. Still no pants but I'm working on getting the Icon armored jeans by riding season. Will not ride without full gear. Thanks to the gear nazi's on here beerchug.gif
