Helmet and gloves all the time, sometimes my nylon jacket. My leather one if it's cold.

If I'm being honest, I wore the helmet like twice last year. Normally hightop sneakers, jeans, shirt, glasses and leather jacket if it's gonna be chilly at some point during the ride. Occasionally guilty of shorts and tanktop on the cruiser (trying to break that habit.)

Now don't hate............Just being honest. sad.gif

I didn't give a damn about boots.  I always rode around in my tennis shoes until one day a small pebble hit the top of my left foot above the steel toe.  It hurt so bad I was squirming in my saddle.  i thought I had broken my toe joint.  Luckily it was swallon but not broken.  After that I wear Sidi vertebrae 100% of the time.  I have alpine leather pants but I wear that seldom unless it's super cold.  I wear jacket/lid/gloves 100% of the time.  at Bare minimum I gots to have my boots/gloves and lids.

Plus after seeing several video's of people's feet and hands dangling by a few strips of skin, I've decided it's not worth it to risk it.  Lower and upper extremies are the first to make contact with the assphalt anyway.

p.s. I remember reading about this Kawi ZX10 rider(his first bike) he low sided in his tennis shoes at 3100 on the odeometer. According to his own accounts, after the crash couple of bystanders had gathered his pieces of ankle bones and put'em in a ziploc bag and gave to him in the ambulance. Just picturing that sends chill down my spine.

When ever I am riding one of my rides it's full armour for me. I always dress to fall. Don't care how hot it is.

After getting hit on my old GSXR at a stop light. I am so... happy I had my glooves, helmet and jacket. I will never ride with my gear and better yet having full leathers is the way togo. Heat or no heat I like to live. wow.gif

Always an Arai helmet, Alpinestars gloves and leather jacket with full armor and Sidi riding boots and jeans if I'm commuting. Full Alpinestars leathers if I'm riding in the canyons.

Yep all the time........Well most of the time..........Well......at least 50% of the time. No gear is like running naked through the forest.....or something like that. I know it's not safe but It feels great. Mostly for short rides.

Helmet = 100% of the time, without fail... would wear a helmet even if it was illegal...

Gloves = 100% of the time... Gravel and large bugs hurt fingers even if you don't want to plan for the crash. wink.gif

Jacket = Nylon FirstGear MeshTex II 95% of the time... I occasionally roll out without it if I'm just rollin' up the road to test something on the bike or go to the store, and if I'm just on a liesurely run and not plannin' on railin' at all...

Pants = Full length jeans 100% of the time... Never shorts...

Shoes = Icon Super Duty boots 99% of the time and occasoinally tennis shoes (with the laces tucked down into the shoe underneath my feet to avoid getting them caught on shifter knobs and such! Some of you may remember the story from when I brought Train home from the dealer. wink.gif ) if I'm only goin' to the store and already have 'em on.

I'm safety conscious but just like every other aspect of my life I sometimes I simply choose to accept some risks. And I can assure you that when I'm not in at least my jacket, boots, gloves, AND lid, I ain't gonna push the bike hard at all. If I have an inkling of a thought of even blasting a straight somewhere I put it all on.

95% FULL gear....at most, I might ride without a jacket for a short distance....but everything else is mandatory unless I am in a controlled environment.

When I first brought my Ninja home, I rode with nothing on. Then my dad rode it with nothing on. biggrin.gif

After that I said #### this, my hair's getting messed up. laugh.gif Started using the helmet I bought with the bike. Got hit by, something in the shoulder the next day, and went and bought gloves and a jacket. Rode like that until November when I bought my Roadcrafter, and shortly thereafter I got some steel-toed leather boots.

But in the 3 crashes I've had in 4,400 miles, my gear has not done a damn thing in each case. Always sliding on my Ass. jump9.gif

when out in the shop working on a bike(when I used to be able too)  I would ride up the street to test out adjustments/new parts/etc  without full gear.(helmet, gloves, jacket  always)

But 99% of time FULL GEAR.

You dress for the crash...not the ride.

 I wear...well I used to wear:

helmet(the law here, besides how are you gonna get the chicks with a rashed up face) I'm far too pretty and vain to damage my mug....heheheh

padded moto cross mesh underwear...NOT KIDDIN...besides,the chicks dig it. Who wants a rashed up azz?

  Full gloves,pants,jacket and BODY ARMOUR.

It was the chest plate on my body armour that took out my own windscreen when I got smoked.

Too each his own I guess. I'm kind of a mean ol' bastid at times...hehehe and when I hear about crashes with tons of road rash and scarred up faces an' shid.  I laugh. I know its not nice an' all that...but....

  Why reward stupidity?

   hav a rash-free 1...RSD.
+1, although I resent that rashed up azz remark. Heheh...

BTW,

Helmet = 98% of the time.

Gloves  = Had none

Jacket  = 95% of the time

Boots   = Didn't have 'um

Jeans   = 98% of the time.

What have I learned?

I don't think I'll ever ride in jeans again unless they're Icon Recons or Draggin Jeans. I had regular Levis jeans and they ripped in about .50 seconds.  Rashed up azz indeed.

Gloves? Now that I have 'em, I ain't ever leaving home without 'em. Same goes for the helmet and the jacket.

Lookin back on things, I came to a terrible realization: I could have prevented about 98% percent of my injuries and could have tremendously lowered the level of body damage I had if I done just one thing:

GEAR UP.

Now I have scars on my back, palms, forearms and of course: The ass. I dunno if I'd like to relive that again.

Just my .02....
