DIY brake light flasher?

Are there any DIY topics on making your own brake light flasher (back off tail light)? I'm looking for ones that flash for like 5-10 seconds when you first press the brake, and then stay solid after until released... Also I have an aftermarket LED tail light with integrated blinkers...

Anyone?

They can be pricey tho...

I have only seen the "back off" unit that you wire in the harness.

Is there a manufacturer that sells something different, ready to plug in?

I don't know what CA law is, but those are illegal in quite a few states, which I think is stupid too.

I'm in VA, one of 4 Commonwealth states left, meaning they have BS equipment laws like you wouldn't belive.

I make a box that is about 2in x 3in and goes inline with the positive of your brake light wire. I flashes the brake lights 20times for 2 secs and then stays steady.

It's about $70 for parts and labor. I guarantee my work as well.
I set up my taillight like yours, except that I made bulbs out of 60 LEDs and then put them in the stock turn signals. I then wired the stock turn signals to the brake lights, thus making them pulsing brake lights!

Attached is a video clip of the brake light setup I have. I have NEVER been harassed by the police.
